I think that blue toad is playable and that the goomba with his hat is actually him with a wonder flower

With daisy here maybe there is a little hope for wario and more importantly waluigi

I'm hoping for Toadette and Rosalina playable also. And please please no Nabbit. It seems plausible from what we've seen that all the normal characters have the same movement set ( not super exciting but ok) and that Yoshi might be the 'easy' character with the extra flutter jump. Assuming Yoshi wasn't just a transformation.

If Yoshi is a playable (possibly special) character I wonder if it can transform into an elephant or if instead it becomes a huge brontosaurus.

If you think about how Nintendo approached marketing Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, there was no mention of the depths in any trailer etc and that is a major part of the game...I hope they are taking the same approach with Mario Wonder and there are major parts of the game which are not mentioned or shown in any marketing material.

I'm super excited for this character lineup, making Yoshi and Daisy standard playable characters is a step in the right direction. We have all these wonderful characters that get to show off their personalities in the spinoffs like Mario Kart, Mario Party, Strikers, Sluggers, Tennis, Golf, Etc. But we haven't really gotten to see them in a story context and how they behave with the other characters.

I think the one other character that has gotten this spotlight occasionally has been Wario, especially since he has two series to his name. That and other appearances, like Super Mario 64 DS.

I wonder if all the characters will behave the same or will have their regular quirks like jump, floating, speed, or double jump. It seems Yoshi still has his flutter jump, but will he also be able to swallow enemies?

@FishyS : Nobody's forcing you to play as Nabbit.

i think Nabbit is great for players with accessibility issues and for very young children.

I occasionally play New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe with my disabled sister, and I get her to default to Nabbit as she lacks the dexterity to play the game without constantly dying.

@Sisilly_G Things like that is ultimately a step in the right direction for Nintendo as well. The one thing they could desperately improve on is their accessibility options. Easier characters are a good start, but imo, the ideal situation would be a mode where players could have that experience with any character.

I'm happy to see that Peach, Daisy, and Yoshi will be playable in this game as well. Another thought I have, I wonder what kind of power-ups we'll be getting in this game. We know that Fire Mario is here. Will some more be returning from earlier games, or are most of them gonna be brand new? I'll be happy either way, but I'm kind of hoping for the latter.

Nabbit forces his way into levels even if you aren't playing him. I think having special characters for accessibility is great, I just hate Nabbit in particular. If, for example, Yoshi was the special accessibility character that would be great. If you could take any character and just swap to an invincibility option in settings that would be great too. There are lots of great accessibility options with the normal Mario cast which does not involve inserting a random ugly criminally-minded rabbit-monster.

Just occured to me that the combo system in this game looks somewhat similar to that in Mario Kart Tour.

Well in Tour, there's a point system and the higher your combo, the higher you score. Here there's no score, just random words. Probably once you get to "Wonderful" it stops changing.

Really this reminds me more of Sonic Colors' QTEs. You know, the ramps where you would mash A and it says "Good! Great! Awesome! Outstanding! Amazing!".

Vaguely interesting possible leak:

https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/super-mario-bros-wonder-nin...

"if you think this game is going to be a walk in the park, then you're in for a rude awakening."

"the game has apparently been absolutely decimating testers and people working/localizing the game."

Although the supposed leaker then compares it to smb3 and says smb3 is really hard (??) so even if the leak part is true, I take the difficulty with a massive grain of salt.

Given Wonder has difficulty ratings on the levels and probably a ton of optional content, I'm hoping this is somewhat true though. Assuming there are plenty of accessibility options, some really challenging parts would be fun. There are some people out there worried that Wonder will be a little too easy in the vein of many Yoshi or Kirby games. Although given that Mario Maker is the only new 2D Mario we've had in ages, basically anything can count as easy in comparison.

@FishyS I am all for a difficult modern Mario game. U Deluxe had some difficulty in the challenge modes especially, but as a whole it was pretty easy. A new game in line with SMB3 in terms of challenge would be great.

Mario game are usually vary easy but I don’t really mind to much because I play it with buddy’s, and they will make the game hell! But it’s fun kind! So I hope it’s true, the harder it is, the more fun for me.

Either way, I'm still buying it. Though I did find New Super Mario Bros U (WiiU) to be quite difficult to some extent.

Random thought - although some Mario power-ups are transformations like the basic mushroom, most are traditionally costumes and some come from enemies like the Koopa cape. Elephant Mario doesn't preclude new 'normal' costumes.

So... Roller Skating Mario anyone? I imagine it could kind of be like the Mario Maker Koopa car but more controllable. I really hope this is a power up since there are skating Koopas.

Do people think there will be power-ups like that or more animal ones? A no-jump elephant power-up is a bit random by itself but then again a lot of Mario games have just a couple random animal power-ups — bee, bunny, frog, cat, tanuki, squirrel, penguin...

This game is local 4-player only.

I've been hearing folks are getting bent out of shape over Wonder not having online mutliplayer?

I couldn't be bothered by it. I would've either played solo or local Co op anyway.
