@Clyde_Radcliffe not sure you will unlock special crown world if you use the assist item though

I think they assume most people will figure out the requirements by looking at the status screens for each world. The shadows for the stars, stamps, and flag pole are good indicators. (Not throwing shade on those who had to Google, I'm pretty sure I also searched for a few things.)

But the thing is, in the previous worlds it would state many green stars you'd need to move on so I think many people would assume there'd be some consistency there.

Yea, that's true. I guess I just always assume you need to get everything in platforming games if you wanna see everything.

Just missing the Champions rd now. Let's see if I can go though it in one sitting tonight or if it will kick my butt!

Champion's Rd has been defeated but it put out a fight for sure! (Although is quite a pain that you need to allways go outside and grab tanooki and cat power Ups as they are almost mandatory...)

And finally got a start on Bowser's fury and oh Boy is this way more my style of 3d platformers... 40 sprites on the first play session and salivating for more already!

Can anyone confirm if using the invincibility leaf to complete certain levels stops you unlocking Champions Road in the Switch version? I keep seeing contradictory information.

Did anyone use it and was still able to unlock Champions Road by getting all the stamps, stars and flagpoles?

I believe I used it on one, maybe two levels, and Champion's Road unlocked just fine for me. And I definitely picked up stars and maybe even stamps while using it.

Phew, thanks! 😃

So, that's the entire game completed with four characters now. Rosalina and Luigi are the only ones left before I collect all of the stamps!

The Rolling Island in Bowser's Fury can bite me. It took me at least 20 times to reach the lighthouse on that one, as it never really seemed consistent at what angles you could stand on the platforms & I seemed to always fall down at some point along the way falling down at an angle I seemed to have no problem with elsewhere (and the fact that Bowser had a tendency to wake up about halfway through on most attempts didn't help).

Luckily I managed to nab all the red "cat coins" across my various attempts, and the fury block & timed platforming challenges weren't that hard, but the last Shine on the island is one of those Key challenges, which I feel is going to be nigh impossible.

I found that island hard too, particularly the lighthouse one! It reminded me of those space levels in Mario Sunshine where you have no FLUDD.

I loved Bowser's Fury, but I will say that smart use of the powerups can really take the edge off the difficulty. For instance, some of the later island where you need to get the key from a high-up place down to the cage which is typically on the sand at the bottom. The racoon suit pretty much takes any challenge out of it. Just grab the key and float down.

@rallydefault That's the unfortunate side effect of open world 3D platforming; the game becomes broken if you have such simple objectives like "get to the top", or "go here, and come back". Best way to fix this is to introduce fall damage, but that's not a very fair mechanic in a Mario game. Mario Odyssey has this problem at times; there's some areas that can be completely bypassed if you're able to manoeuvre Mario with some fast, tight acrobatics.

Finally unlocked World Crown, woo!

Getting 3 stars and the flagpole in Piranha Creeper Creek after Dark was a nightmare... awful level.

@Clyde_Radcliffe Good job! Yeah I had a lot of trouble with that level too...it's really easy to take a hit or two in it.

@Snaplocket
Bowser's Fury was a super-fun experience. I don't think 60 dollars for most people, but for me it was totally worth it because I never got to Champion's Road on my Wii U and wanted to kind of do a fresh, complete run overall.

In terms of versus Odyssey...I know this is crazy, but I spent the last couple weeks going back to Odyssey and getting all the moons (I beat it quickly at launch but then shelved it) and... holy cow. I'm kind of mad at myself that I didn't give Odyssey a chance when it first came out. I don't know if I just didn't have much time to game back then or if I had some other game I was more into, but I thought I hated Odyssey and this time around it's just incredibly awesome.

The controls aren't nearly as bad as I thought I remembered them being, and yea some of the moons are stupid easy to get, but honestly a lot of them are fun and creative. My theory is perhaps a bit weird but: I had just finished the 3D Mario collection after struggling through Sunshine (ugh), so maybe going to Odyssey right after those games was just such a massive step up that it let me finally appreciate it? I don't know lol But now I would put Odyssey just a hair about 3D World, which I never thought I would say.

The game was definitely worth the double dip for me, just for the fresher and smoother experience and Bowsers Fury.

Hope you're having a good day.

Woof. You are a better man than I, Charlie Brown.

I did like some parts of Sunshine. The tropical vibe is definitely really fun, and I liked how varied the tasks were for most of the shines. I even got used to the FLUDD controls. But man... those parts where the FLUDD is taken from you just made me wanted to throw my controller. Made me feel like a kid again playing a level over and over lol, so I guess that's good and bad. Odyssey has some later moons (Dark side doors/chimneys and Darker side, obviously) that are super challenging, too, but I would say overall Sunshine was the hardest 3D Mario for me.

I have question about the increased speed in the switch version:

Is the entire game sped up (i.e. player AND enemies) compared to the Wii U version, or only the movement of the player characters? Because if it's only the player, then I think it's a downgrade, as it ruins the game balance.

@chipia I think only the player characters' speeds increased. The end of Conkdor Canyon (with the horizontally waving platforms) was tweaked to compensate for the faster speed though, but I think that's it.
