I'm glad this is getting ported. I have the game downloaded to my Wii U, mostly from being snowed in on a MAR10 day a few years back and wanting a new Mario game to play. Now I can get a physical copy of this one. Having online play is a big plus, my friend and I are going to have a blast co-oping this online.
The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!
@LetsaGO That's assuming it was still on the wii u Eshop lol
...though, online multiplayer + new content, they could actually make this worthwhile. Especially if the new content feels like 15-20$ level DLC, rather than just 3-4 new levels.
I'm getting it regardless cause online multiplayer though.
I bet the increased game speed will make the game more enjoyable. As long as Bowser's Fury is sizeable and online is decent for playing with friends, I'm in.
@Slowdive 3D Land?? Please?? Bowser’s Fury looks more open world than the rest of the levels. 2021 hasn’t even started and I already love it! My fav Wii U game is getting ported 🥳
won't pay again for playing on Switch even with the tiny expansion.
We have no idea how big the expansion is yet. I'm staying optimistic that when Nintendo give something its own standalone name, it's usually quite sizeable. Like if it was just a couple more levels, would they have given it an official name? Wouldn't they have just said "now with some bonus levels" like they did with Captain Toad?
@Slowdive I'd guess the Bowser's Fury part of the trailer is showing a world hub similar to the Observatory in Galaxy and as a result is larger file size by a notable amount. Similar to how the Observatory world hub in Galaxy leads to a bigger file size than Galaxy 2's 2D Mario world map approach.
@Slowdive@Blooper987@Grumblevolcano@Eel My best guess would be less compression to improve load times. Textures and music may also be a part of it, though I'm not sure how much the audio quality has improved compared to Wii U.
@Grumblevolcano The HUB is not the reason Mario Galaxy has a bigger file size compared to 2. There are numerous reasons, but a relatively small HUB isn't going to make a difference.
My guess from the trailer is that Bowser's Fury is a kind of Odyssey world but in the 3D World style. So just a large open area, with a whole range of different stars to collect as you explore. That maybe ends in a big boss fight when you've collected all the stars.
@Dezzy Looks to me like a regular overworld map with different levels. So the sphinx-like statue is a level, and the lighthouse you can see in the distance is another level. I don't think it's structurally different from the main game.
@Dezzy I’d hate that, i wasn’t overly fond of Odyssey’s game play. Plus it kinda defeats the point of 3D World if it’s gameplay is just an Odyssey extension.
That's what I thought at first, but I'm pretty sure thats wrong. You can see several different in-game obstacles across the landscape. Moving up and down climbing nets on the first area, and moving platforms in the background at the end.
Also, look at the scale of mario compared to the environment. Then compare that to the overworld in the main game. On the overworld, mario is like a quarter the height of a castle at the end of each world. Whereas in this, he's like 1/10th the height of that little shrine thing. This is definitely in-level scale, not overworld scale.
