Topic: Stream inflight movies using Switch??

We recently purchase Switch's for our 10yo triplets. About to take a plane trip with the devices. Since most airlines expect passengers to use personal devices to stream movies on the plane, curious if the Switch can be used in that manner. We'd rather keep the iPads at home and rely on only the Switch to stream.

Thanks in advance!

@HenryJames There are a few video apps on Switch like Crunchyroll, Hulu and even Pokemon TV for instance but I'm not sure whether they require an internet connection in order to properly function on something like a flight. Youtube is also there if that's something that could be useful. I wouldn't be the most qualified person to be talking about this kind of thing but my advice would be to go to each app's respective eShop page, see if they require a constant internet connection and make your decision from there. Hope I could help and have a wonderful flight!

Tablets (like an iPad) would probably be better to take if watching videos is what they're mainly going to be using the devices for.

1. As the user above mentioned, only Hulu, YouTube, Crunchyroll, & Funimation are available on Switch (no Disney+, Netflix, Prime, or Paramount+), the latter two of which are anime focused, so pretty niche appeal.

2. I imagine you'd probably have to download the movies/shows directly onto the device's onboard memory for offline viewing, as I think you wouldn't be allowed to be online during flights (somebody correct me if I'm wrong on this). Now, certain services (including Hulu) do allow you to download some content on mobile devices for this exact purpose, however (in Hulu's case at least) they don't support this feature on Switch as far as I can tell from looking at their website (and even if you do have a device that can use the feature, like the iPads, you can only do this if you have a "No Ads" subscription, so keep that in mind).

Youtube and Hulu and Crunchyroll are always connected to use them. They are streaming sites and without a connection they will not work.

As someone who uses my Switch to watch YouTube regularly, I second this option, or even a phone in airplane mode. The reason is simply because movies can be downloaded, albeit you have to buy them from the device's respective store, or use Movies Anywhere if you have a digital code included with a DVD or Blu-Ray.
