Hey guys. I made an animated DK stage i put 4/5 hours into.
It features wooden barrells that fall from the sky due to DKs stomping. Anyone staying on the outside of the main beam may come in contact with them and be fired off stage as there are canon barrells hidden inside them.
Other than that its just a straight forward stage with a giant dk stomping and flailing a bit lol.
I was super tempted to put the DK Rap as the background music but i decided not to. Maybe i missed a beat lol
@Sidon_ZoraPrince that is really impressive! Love the design and so far it's smashable as well, well against CPU that is. Let's see what my buddies will say when we go all out =)
Got a stage to share which is less creative, but I included a subtle challenge to a further 'basic' stage. Personally I think it worked out pretty well. Feedback always appreciated!
CODE: 9YJQ9G5W
*PS: had to look up my own stage by name to find the code. Can anyone tell me where to directly find it? Seems I'm too blind to find it myself @[email protected]
I didn't realise gravity was a thing. So i took both barrells off rails and gave them gravity. They now fall from the centre and dk punches them to both side where they roll down numerous platforms i added, a knod to the donkey kong orginal where mario would have to jump the barrells. They respawn when they fall off the bottom.
I've also widened the middle parts so characters can move around more.
I just need to make more adjustments so its actually smashable.
Unfortunately it lags a bit because there is a lot going on. Nothing i can do there.
As far as i know thats the only way to get it. Take a screenshot of it though and itll be easier to find in your gallery. Ill check your stage out soon.
Ill let you guys know when i post the adjusted dk stage.
EDIT : I checked your stage out. Its actually fun, straightforward and smashable!!
I was a bit annoyed at the lower platforms on either side not being grabbable as it's counter intuitive and not what you would expect from platforms that low down. In saying that it adds a degree of difficupty and it may stop players from camping as there's more risk of getting smashed out there without being able to get back in.
Ok so i added grabbable edges to platforms (nightmare). Made most of dk ungrabbable as you would grab alot of edges unintentionally while moving.
Added gravity to the barrells and platforms for them to move on. They can blast you off stage so collide with them at you're own risk.
I made dks feet smaller and left more space between them and the lower platform as cpus could get high damage whilst in there and it was difficult to smash them out.
Angled and redrew his arms to stop barrells rolling back into his body/getting stuck.
Please check it out. I think its pretty much finished now. Let me know if it's smashable.
Edit : Added wind under DKs feet to stop players camping in the middle where it is hard to get a smash out. So you can throw your enemies into the wind forcing them to the outter part of the stage. Then you can smash them. The AI still tries to go through the wind as opposed to up and over his leg so i set the wind to 60 not 100 to give them a chance.
This plays a lot better with human players.
I plan to do no more work on this as i can't identify any further playability issues and i don't imagine many people will play it lol.
@Bankaj You go to Search > Details > Category > Creator > You
Also, pretty neat stage. Seems fun to fight on, at least.
Tamagotchi - 30RG39R3
Starts as an egg, then hatches, then grows to an adult.
Spent hours tweaking everything to make the physics work just right. Also, the physics engine isn't 100% consistent, sometimes small changes happen for no reason.
KH2 Twilight Town Clock Tower - 54585TG1
Wouldn't some simple copy/flip features be nice? It was awful trying to draw the bells the same for both sides.
@Sidon_ZoraPrince I thought about it, but you can't give them physics and animate them at the same time.
I tried using the platform they stand on to bounce them around a little, but it got in the way of the bar that swipes them off, plus they slide around and it makes it harder for them to land on their feet.
Thanks, I appreciate it!
Checked yours out, and it's way more animated than I was expecting. You clearly understand the tracks a lot better than I do. Really good stuff! The cannons in the barrels surprised me, would lava have not worked for them?
@Somescrub I see, that's a hard one. It looks and plays great all the same.
It was all trial and error lol.
Lava would have worked but differently. The wooden barrels are a knod to the original arcade donkey kong. The canons inside are a knod to the barrel canons in many Donkey Kong games.
I think it also adds a deeper layer of tactical manoeuvribility. For example if you throw your opponent into the path of a barrel or directly at one they may be sucked in and fired off stage.
Secondly anyone using the platforms regularly will have to come to ground or risk colliding with them and being fired off stage. So its keeping the flow of the stage there. I was trying to eradicate camping as its a big stage.
If you're clever/lucky you can use them to be fired back on stage when you're falling to your doom or to the top of it
@Franklin
1) I'm pretty into your stage! It's really clean looking. I like what you added on the left side, but I preferred the grass you originally had on the right
2) When you're selecting a stage to fight on, favorited stages show up first in the list. You can search for posts you've "Yeah'd" though. It's (Search > Details > Category > Gave a Yeah!)
3) I think that's a great idea. It's always really sad when a good level doesn't get any attention.
SFHCGCLP - Basketsmash 1 - up to 8 fighters - first stage in the new editor, not the traditional basket stage
50N41K6K - Hellcage (Small) - up to 8 fighters - name says it: a caged area with a small opening at the top. The opening has winds going into the stage. The main plattform moves down causing damage to any fighters in the lower section. Planning a bigger version with more tech - and more heck.
9FBL1DTD - Space Mine - up to 4 fighters - remastered a old stage of mine from Smash 4. Don't get the wrong idea when seeing the preview, you can throw fighters off stage in all directions, but there is a moving plattform of lava covering one of two openings below.
So uh, how do you get codes? Do you have a page with all your stuff, or do you have to dind your own stage or something? I can't figure it out, and I want to share stages on my youtube channel.
Nice >:]
I do stupid stuff on youtube.com/mysticbros, so check it out if your bored or whatever.
Or don't, it's your time after all.
@MysticGengar Strangely enough, there doesn't seem to be a option to see what you posted to smashworld. The app allows this, though i don't think you can see the id there. What you can do ingame however is search for your username.
