I played and loved SMT IV on 3DS, but I skipped Apocalypse (which is supposedly better).

I wonder how long we'll have to wait to hear about the Switch port for this?

How new-player friendly are these games? Asking for a friend.

@ElRoberico SMT IV was my introduction to the series. In my opinion, they're not that difficult once to come to terms with the idea that this series is a dark version of Pokemon. Certain attacks are super-effective against certain monster types. So it's important to build a roster of demons with wide array of attack types in order to handle most combat situations.

Also buffs and debuffs play a more critical role than in most casual rpgs.

Cool, I can sell my 3DS copies for a mint before it's announced and the price drops.

I get the feeling that the closure of the 3DS/WiiU shops will usher in a new era of Switch ports.

I enjoyed Shin Megami Tensei IV on 3DS though I don't think I would purchase it again. I am honestly not the biggest fan of Shin Megami Tensei in the first place though.

Two of the best 3DS games, imo. I would double dip on Switch in a heartbeat.

This one makes a lot of sense. Atlus recently ported Persona 3, 4 and 5 to modern platforms, so plugging the gaps in the SMT series would make a lot of sense too.

If they do port SMT IV, I hope they touch it up a bit to address its biggest flaws, such as the confusing in-game map.

Apocalypse was already a pretty big step up in terms of polish, so there's not a lot to do with that one.

I'd 100% re-purchase them on Switch. Two of the very best games in the series.

Ugh. Men.

That's the big question. Atlus have done some really barebones ports of their older games, but also some nicely enhanced ones. I'd hope that SMT IV is in for the latter treatment, but I wouldn't be terribly surprised if it's more Persona 3 than Catherine Full Body.

Is smt iv a big step up from iii ? Are there quality of life improvements etc ?

So are all three SMT games allegedly coming to all platforms? I'm kinda picky about where I play games, and that would really set where I play them.
