Topic: SD card causes black screen

Every time I insert an SD card, my switch boots up to a black screen or if the switch is on when i insert the sd card, the screen cuts to the same black screen. Once the screen is black, the console is unresponsive and I have to hold down the power button to force the console off. I can remove the sd card and start the system without issue. I tried replacing the sd card reader and the new reader is having the same issue. I am wondering if it is an issue with the connector on the motherboard.... Has anyone else seen this issue? I bought this switch used knowing their is an sd card reader issue, but the original owner assured me no modification has ever been done on the system.

You identified the problem already. The reader can't read or access it that should tell you all you need to know.

Here’s how the troubleshooting goes;
At every step, the following two rules can apply;
If it’s not the software, it’s the power.
If it’s not the power, it’s the hardware.

Using those rules;
If it’s not the SD cards, it’s the reader.
If it’s not the reader, it’s the reader connection (x2, each end)
If it’s not the reader connection (x2, each end), it’s the board.
