@TheFrenchiestFry I guess a Switch Lite with an OLED display would be redundant, but I wouldn't honestly put it past Nintendo to do it.

@VoidofLight Why redundant? I reckon it would have appeal to folk wanting to by a Switch.

Honestly if an OLED Switch Lite would be able to hook up to the TV through separate accessories, I would buy that instead of the Switch OLED.

@GrailUK Redundant, since both really work within the same market, just one being smaller than the other.. but I feel like it's still a likely thing, given how the Switch Lite already exists.

I don't feel any need or desire to buy the Switch Oled.

A Switch Oled Lite, with the better screen and maybe better battery life? That would be preordered already.

So I do hope they refresh the Lite model at some point.

If the switch OLED is a reason for switch lite users to upgrade, then I'm not seeing it, I would much rather a switch lite version of the OLED but if the normal won really is meant to be and upgrade for both then well.

@Eel I think at this point we all want an OLED lite, I have seen a lot of users talking about it on here, and how they would buy it if that was the case, same for me.

@GrailUK Just my two cents: even though I think that you have a very valid point about an excess of negativity, I do find merit in the points made about people moving goal posts when past/previous predictions, regardless of whether they're rumors or actually confirmed facts, didn't fit their narrative.
I personally always argued that there wasn't going to be a Pro (yet) or if Nintendo would actually release a console with 4K capabilities, then it would more likely/sooner be a full successor to the Switch, aka the next generation, and not a new/iterative Switch model.

But, at the same time, I also stated that IF it ultimately comes out that my sentiments are completely wrong, that I would not feel too big of a man to admit I'm wrong. And quite a few of the people who DID think that a Switch Pro was going to be revealed, based upon the same information that now all seems to point to the OLED model, apparently aren't capable or willing to do the same thing, and THAT's the annoying part of it.

Instead they move goal posts, saying "hey, at least they got SOME things right", and then they happily truck along, still believing in the myth, and even expecting more, when they were clearly and unequivocally wrong. And what's more, basically asking to be treated with more politeness/courtesy, while not giving any in return themselves, instead just trying to stubbornly trying to drive home their own points.

If one side is willing to agree they might be wrong, then the other side should be big enough to do the same, and not walk away when discussions get a bit hard or if you can't convince people to agree with your statements. Life is not all about puppy dogs, unicorns and rainbows. Sometimes it hurts, sometimes it sucks and sometimes it's highly enjoyable, and other times it's just meh...

I'm pretty sure that nobody here wanted anybody to be bullied into leaving, so if you're reading this, @Slowdive, give it some more thought, take a breath and just stick around, you'll see that it's okay to disagree, or to agree to disagree, but possible options are not facts, and if you want to discuss the "fun" of rumors, then perhaps we should treat them a little bit less as confirmed and/or fact, because even though we might be wrong, it sure seemed like that this is what you were doing a lot of the time, handing out info, that supposedly supported that "proof", but all it basically was is possibilities, nothing confirmed nor completely denied.

Bottom line: it can still go either way. A more powerful model could still be released around Christmas, or the new 4K tech could simply be used for a next generation console. I'm willing to come forth and publicly admit me being completely wrong, would you be willing to do the same in that case?

If so, then you'll find that more people will be more respectful towards you, and then we can also all continue to hang around here without the need to feel spiteful, tired of other people or downright depressed because people don't see things our way.

I do hope that once you've cooled down a bit, that you choose to return here, because regardless of some of the tougher discussions here and there, NLife is still one of the more enjoyable sites and communities, and you know it, so come on, get yourself together, and stick around for a while longer.

If my current Switch dies, I'll replace it with an OLED. Our humble Switch is halfway through it's lifecycle. Which means plenty of folk are still going to buy a Switch. The new model has it's place. This year might be it's peak year. Who knows. Games sell hardware and next year already looks set to be great.

@ThanosReXXX I get ya. To be fair, it's no slur on anyone to admit the rumours got it wrong. I mean, this thread is about debating goalposts and for it to continue, well, it's healthy for the thread to move them occasionally haha.

I think some people struggle with the concept of leaks. These leaks were some of the most accurate we had seen. So I strongly disagree with this "they're moving the goalposts" narrative. Nobody is saying they were all correct, what we're saying is there was a lot of truth to it. And whether the Pro exists or not incremental hardware revisions are still a sensible approach.

Also I think it's reasonable to be frustrated at Nintendo to be charging this kind of premium for a product. Especially one that leaves that much on the table. HDR would cost them almost nothing, a 60% clock bump is there for them in the hardware they have. 4K output? Fair they can't get even close to driving it in something like BotW but it could exist as an option with an improved dock DP->HDMI converter. And they released a revised dock....

The Switch is a console that regularly runs games docked at 720p or less. And often missing a 30fps target. You can't say anything to convince me there isn't room for them to move here. Or that they need an entirely new platform for new hardware to make sense.

With that said, as a portable I have no issues and I like the Switch as a portable more. I've always like portables more. If the OLED model was cheaper I'd upgrade to it. If there was an OLED Lite I'd consider it. So to that last question? Yeah, OLED Lite sounds nice. The only thing that would make me pause would be the lack of cloud saves for certain titles

Well I do enjoy discussing leaks, rumours and all types of speculation so I will still be around to give my thoughts about. It is sad somebody has to leave due to bullying but it is life.

@GrailUK That was also part of my point: I'm not going to bite your head off if we ultimately find out that some or most of your points are wrong, long as you're man enough to also openly ADMIT that you were wrong, and not just continue to keep pushing possible release dates to some future point in time, because it didn't release at the one initially hinted at/rumored...

@skywake I somewhat agree with you, but the only part I like to highlight, is that the defenders/believers SPECIFICALLY hooked onto the part of the info that was WRONG, aka the 4K DLSS part, with the improved chip set. So yeah, it has wired LAN, and it has that also rumored OLED screen, but it's not most parts right, it was actually most parts wrong.

If I shoot a target ten times and I only hit it two or three times, then that's not really something to be positive or confident about at ALL...

Completely agreed about Nintendo charging premium for basically next to no improvements though, so no argument there whatsoever. In fact: I couldn't agree more if I tried...

Alright. I concluded the Nate the hate podcast. Condolences to the loss of his uncle. Good work not ducking the podcast since it’s a topic they have been covering forever. Maybe “not what I expected” is the new version of I was wrong. I will say Nate has gone from right before e3 saying he personally talked to sources that confirmed to him a pro was coming out because third parties wanted to show their games at e3. MVG always said none of his developer kits had heard anything so he remained skeptical despite trusting his friend Nate. Today’s podcast there was no such talk about sources. Instead it was more shocked and confusion why Nintendo would release such a product like this. What I don’t understand is if Nate has so many sources then how could he be shocked that this type of system was coming out. There’s a couple options. One he doesn’t actually have sources. Or two his sources are no where near as good as he thinks they are. Anyways he went on to say that we should expect a switch pro, or 2 within 12-18 months from now. How can we have gone from it’s going to be announced within the next two weeks to 12-18 months? But I get it. Let’s not say sorry for getting peoples hopes up.

Wrong about what? You keep on saying that, but you're not elaborating. At this point it just sounds like a lame excuse on why you're being immature and rude to everyone. Just because someone is wrong doesn't mean you should harass them to the point of seeing you as a bad person, or even leaving the site again. You clearly haven't learned from your previous mistakes and you're just continuing your past behavior without realizing that NOBODY CARES ANYMORE about this Switch Pro bullcrap.

Currently nobody care about Switch Pro rumour anymore.
OLED edition is the answer right now.
