A certain mid-boss in world 4 is driving me mad!
Retrying a boss fight over and over is one thing but for some reason you have to beat an easy regular battle before the boss shows up which gets incredibly tedious. I'll probably go grind some more power orbs in the challenges and try again later. Game is still the proverbial "bomb" though. Rabbid Luigi for life!

@otterskateboard Rabbid Luigi does a damn fine job, doesn't he? I'd recommend using Hero Sight/Steely Gaze and then making sure that Luigi himself is as far away as possible so he doesn't get hit. You can get a lot of damage in on the boss that way, and get him to not get too close to either of Mario/Luigi (just keep in mind that fully upgraded Steely Gaze will fire 3 times, where Mario will fire 2 times, so it's preferable to have him closer to Mario, as he'll end up closer to Luigi in the end)

@UmniKnight I'll also add that Rabbid Yoshi is easily the best choice of Rabbid for the fight. He can easily protect himself if damage seems unavoidable, whether with his damage-nullifying shield or pushing the mid-boss away. Later on I plan to use a Yoshi team against him to really pile on the hurt with offensive buffs.

@meleebrawler Rabbid Yoshi... I've not used him too much. Yoshi himself though, he's great, with his Overwatch, and his other effect of guaranteeing elemental damage, when combined with Mario, makes a lethal combo of serious damage.

@Snaplocket My favourite combo is Rabbid Luigi, Luigi and (because we ain't got no choice) Mario.

Also, it really annoys me the game doesn't let you remove Mario since that means you can't more then one of the three other Mario characters at a time.

Yeah, this I don't understand. It really cripples your tactical choices.

@Therad I share that sentiment.

@Snaplocket True, but one of his final weapons has 100% chance to afflict vampire, so he can do it even remotely. And that is far more reliable because of how much vampire heals, and the fact that it isn't on a lengthy cooldown/you can just shoot the enemy from afar.

I don't mind not being able to switch out mario - though I must admit, I'm currently stuck on the world 2 end boss because I don't have a clue yet how to preserve my teams health with mario in it and no rabbid peach...

I love the challenge I'm buying the dlc just to see what more I'll get out of this one long term.

@erv Peach's team jump heals, so I recommend team jumping with her every turn if possible. Even if she doesn't land near another teammate for tactical reasons, she still heals herself. Also, I keep her paired up with Mario in that fight, and use the vamp gun and vamp dash and Rabbid Luigi and he's pretty much always at full health cause I've got his vamp dash powered up so high.

On the general topic, I would love for Mario not to be on the team. Like I really wanted to try out a team of the first three Rabbids, or Luigi Peach, Rabbid Luigi, or a bunch more combinations I think could be really fun. I get that would break a few challenges, but just make him required for those challenges/battles. Even if beating the game let me unlock the ability to use ANY team, not just ones with Mario and a Rabbid, it would give me huge reason to replay a bunch.

Agreed. It does make sense to have Mario for the story, but not having to use Mario would offer a lot more battle strategies. It would be a nice compromise and great replay value if you could choose any team after you beat the game - great idea!

@Snaplocket He is good, just somewhat situational. Using him effectively often involves moving him far away from the party to flank the enemy with his great ground movement (his team jump is pretty lousy). This seems counter-intuitive, but it allows him to potentially land multiple dashes (he can hit more enemies than any other with it) and use his Scaredy Rabbid to push enemies towards his teammates while protecting himself, along with his shield.

If an all-Mario character party was permitted, I'd imagine the team of Mario-Luigi-Yoshi would just demolish all but the most overwhelming of forces. You kill/cripple all nearby enemies with combined buffs, then annihilate any others with combined overwatch on the next. Conversely an all-Rabbid team of Luigi, Peach and Yoshi would be next to unkillable.

One neat thing they could've done is a hard mode with much stronger, numerous enemies, but also granting full freedom in party selection.

@Snaplocket Well, his dash is better than Rabbid Peach's at any rate. More hits and better mobility to take advantage of them. As for the damage issue, I compensate by giving him points in his high-ground bonus, since the Rumblebang has good range second only to the Precision.

Does anybody know what the update just did? I'm guessing fixed some bug issues since the update was like one second.

@otterskateboard Excellent, I hope you'll enjoy your remainder of the game, and hopefully not get too many freezes/bugs (I've had one where Beep-O gradually went into the ground, and then completely at one point)

So I am enjoying Mario + Rabbids more than Zelda or Splatoon 2. There I said it. Its my favorite game on Switch!

Has anybody beat the game yet? I'm still taking my time and just over half way through level 3. Did about half the challenges and both S worlds available so far.

Anybody else encounter the World 4-5 pipe puzzle glitch? If I go through the people to the center-top platform with the chest, it won't let me return through the pipe: I have to exit to Peach's castle and then run back to the world and start the chapter over again.

Just bought the game even though I'm meant to be saving for a new 2017 VW Golf, I couldn't hold off any longer. I'm not normally into turned based games like this, but wow this game is amazing. The graphics, gameplay and music are all perfect, I can see why it's so popular and why it got great reviews. When I first heard about the game, I was like nah, but I've never been so happy to be wrong.

@Hughesy Don't worry, many of us have had to eat humble pie and admit our closed-mindedness regarding this game. It's great.
