Topic: Remnant: From the Ashes

I was doing my usual weekly check of Gamefly for upcoming Switch games (they're a reliable source for upcoming physical releases, some that have yet to be announced). Lo and behold, it appears as though Remnant: From the Ashes is making its way to Switch. Clearly I'm late to the party, apparently this was announced a few days ago. Had I known I would've started a thread sooner.

Do you like third person shooters like Gears of War or Warframe?

Do you like Souls-like games?

Then I encourage you to give Remnant: From the Ashes a try. It's rather good.

Although, the Switch port could potentially be a little suspect. I remember the PS4 version not running all that well.

I've been playing it for a few hours now. It seems to run pretty well and the game is a blast.

The Switch Up review for this was really positive...

Is it all on the cartridge + the DLCs?

@Zuljaras According to what I've seen on Reddit it seems to be that way.

To anyone interested, the game is an easy recommendation. I hope that it doesn't go under the radar.

Unfortunately there is a day-one patch, although I haven't looked at the size of the patch.

Other than that, after playing for an hour I can attest that the Switch port is better than I expected. The only differences from the PS4 version I played previously is the slight stutter when mobs are spawned in and what feels like slightly longer load times. Otherwise the Switch version plays well. I'd say this is as impressive as Rebellion the Switch ports for their games (Zombie Army, Sniper Elite, etc.).

Dealing with heavy units in that first sewer section, when that music kicks in and you don't have a radar indicating where enemies are at, things get pretty spicy quite quickly.

When that big, double-bladed sum***** spawns behind you, looking like death incarnate.

Mmm, unsettling.

@Magician I've learned to cope with day one patches as long as they do not ADD content. Just HD graphics, additional language packs or bug fixes is ok with me.

Played this on Gamepass with 2 friends and it was really enjoyable. Nice to see it on Switch.

I just pre-ordered my physical copy from Best Buy. Should be here on Friday or Saturday. Have been looking for a meaty third-person shooter with heavy exploration elements so I am glad this came along and physical to boot! This and PRIME: REMASTERED will keep me busy until Zelda drops. Curious that we have not seen a review of this on NL yet...
