I used to use my Pro controller all the time for PC gaming, but for some reason, right around a month-ish ago, it stopped connecting altogether. When I go to Settings and Bluetooth & other devices. it says it is connected when I turn it on, the four lights just keep cycling. I tried to plug it in with a cable, but all that happens is the sound of a USB device connecting sounds. Here is what I tried:
disconnecting it from my switch (didn't work)
tried updating my pro controller (might have helped)
disconnected my pro controller and reconnected it (nope)
@Zugzwane
Switch Pro is finicky with PC because it uses BT 4.0, whereas most devices are using 5.0 or even 5.2
You need a Bluetooth 4.0 dongle. The Avantree brand is the one I use and it works flawlessly for Switch Pro. Before I was using 5.0 and it worked for a while, then stopped, just like you're describing.
Now I have both a 4.0 and 5.2 dongle on a USB switcher adapter and just swap which one is active depending on my needs. But most my devices also work fine on the 4.0 so it stays active pretty much all the time
@Link-Hero I use an Xbox series controller on PC and it sucks. It's clunky to connect and even clunky-er to disconnect it. Works very well with games though.
So...I looked at my controller status on the Bluetooth setting after a while, and for some reason, both my pro controller and AirPods say driver error. What driver do they use and how do I fix them?
