Tried the demo, first Mystery Dungeon I'm touching.
How important are the first two pokemon you pick in the beginning? I get the feeling that you are able to build a team and you are able to switch by pressing "+" between characters. SO basically you could play as any Pokemon you want then, right?
Also, is there already a confirmation on how many Pokemon are recruitable? Do we get the chance to build a team out of all (non-legendary/mysticals) Pokemon from Gen 1 - 3? How many Pokemon can you recruit at the same time (I see in the save menu limited amount of slots)?
@Bankaj your character and your first partner are integral to the story and will be in your active team until the after-game.
According to the review on the main site, you can enter the dungeons with a team of three Pokémon, and you can recruit up to five on a single trip. Any Pokémon from generation 1 to 3 is recruitable.
@Eel Thanks, I read the review, but it wasn't this clear to me to be honest.
Will wait for the discounts in the future. Want to play it for the Poké-itch and the art-style. It looks wonderful, but I doubt it will give me the pleasure other full-price games give me. (afraid of the repitition tbh).
@Bankaj The new auto feature may help take some of the repetition out of it. Probably not much for the larger dungeons though. Also, yeah, if you're lucky and persistent enough, you can recruit a couple.
I am interested to know is anyone else having a problem with crashing or am I doing something wrong? My team went down in a dungeon and when I go to the main menu option “Give up on rescue” my game crashes and I get an error message “the software was closed because an error occurred”. Has anyone else experienced this?
I also wanted to know, can someone see if they can rescue my team? I really don't want to loose 8 hours of progress if I don't have to.
Just beat the main storyline. Man, this game is really short. I ran the numbers and it's only about 2/3 as long as Explorers. I think this remake might go in the "why is this $60" pile right along with LGPE and Link's Awakening (never played the original so I had no idea it was this short), this much content might have been fine for the GBA, but it's not enough for the Switch. I'm also not really liking the autosave in this game, it prevents you from SRing if things don't go your way, so if you're ill-prepared or just plain unlucky, you're basically screwed. I had one instance where I ran into a Monster House and didn't have a One-Shot Orb to take it out so I tried resetting the game so I could start the dungeon over and it started me... right back in front of the Monster House. Also IDK if it's just because of the limits of the GBA soundchip when they were composing the actual tunes, but most of the music does nothing for me. Except Sky Tower (or as I know it, Reborn's gym theme). Sky Tower is amazing.
Aside from that, I mean, it's Mystery Dungeon. You know what you're getting. Still a good spinoff series that I really hope continues. Also I hope they remake Explorers, that game is easily one of the best games of the entire Pokemon IP.
Yeah, I think I'm almost done with the story and I'm roughly fifteen hours in playtime. It's short in its main storyline, but from what I remember there's loads of optional postgame bosses to challenge.

@Bolt_Strike if I remember correctly, then just like Explorers Rescue has a significant amount of post-game story and optional challenges to keep you going. Not enough to match the 100+ hours I put into explorers (that remake would be worth 60 imo) but a good amount more.
I mean, to be fair, at least with a remake you know the Switch Pokemon game won't necessarily have 60 dollars worth of content. They aren't just making a new, blatantly 40 dollar game and pretending its worth more than it is this time. :V
It's also better than when they remade an actual Gameboy game and added a mediocre dungeon creating mode out of some stupid obligation for their game to be 60 dollars instead of just pricing games like they should. :VVV
Pricing all retail games at 60 dollars no matter what is dumb, at this point this is the running theme of my Switch posts this year.
Has anyone fully cleared every mission? Or have any idea how many total missions there are? I’ve got like a month if not more of playtime and am almost maxed out on rank but still see no end to the missions?
@mariomaster96 thanks for the input! If that is the case, I’ll probably focus more on the legendary missions and side dungeons. I’ve been putting all my focus into trying to complete all the missions SMH
