Back in 2013, Nintendo gave us Pikmin 3 for the Wii U. I grew up with the Pikmin series as I had the first two entries on the Nintendo GameCube. For years I was waiting for the third entry on the Wii which then transitioned to the Wii U. Pikmin 3 is such a gorgeous game to this day. I loved looking at the environment and loved the gameplay. Around last year, I donated my Wii U and all of my Wii U games to a local library because I was playing my Nintendo Switch a lot. When the librarian asked me if I was sure of my decision, I said the only game I was willing to keep the console for was Pikmin 3, but at the time there were rumors of a "Pikmin 3: Deluxe" like Mario Kart 8. There were rumors of the game being released in the past few months, however it seems due to the COVID-19 pandemic a lot of games including Nintendo's own games seem to be delayed.

I know working from home can be a lot. And I know that Nintendo prioritizes safety. I completely understand that making a game seems hard to do in this climate. However, I think Nintendo has a few tricks up their sleeves when it comes to developing games during this time and I know they are working hard for their gamers. We pay for their online services so I know they want us to be happy with their service and still release games.

Please feel free to remind me if there are some Nintendo games that are in development, but as of now I cannot think of any besides Bayonetta 3 and even then I think that is more so PlatinumGames part because Nintendo is the publisher, not the developer. I hope to see Pikmin 3 release soon. For me as a Pikmin fan it would keep me occupied as that is a game I can play several times trying to better my score. I also would like to see a harder difficulty to give me a challenge. Lastly, it would help for the fact that the fourth entry was announced years ago and according to Miyamoto, it was close to finishing, but we do not know anything about it. It seems to be in development hell like the third one was. Releasing Pikmin 3 would help Nintendo test the water to see if it seems to be a good fit and help with the gap that seems to be with the releases this year. Even though the Switch has had a lot of ports, I prefer a port rather than not getting a game.

I just remembered the rumored Mario 3D remastered collection

I love the Pikmin series and would love any of the games to come to the Switch (ideally they all would, but just the 3rd game is probably the most likely scenario).

Whatever happened to Pikmin 4 though?

I listened to this podcast on youtube the other day and they were saying pikmin 3 is done and has been rated in Japan. They were discussing why it hadn't already been released.

That's a weird way of spelling Pikmin 4.

It's a really weird situation, lets say Pikmin 3 Deluxe is ready to go and some dev on Pikmin 4 has been done, does Pikmin 4 even get released on the Switch?

If Pikmin 3 is out before Christmas, I think we don't see Pikmin 4 until 2023, maybe it's a launch title on whatever comes after the Switch?

TL;DR

Pikmin 3 Deluxe rumors were discussed along with the Switch ports for Mario 64, Mario Galaxy, and Mario Sunshine. All of them are due sometime this Fall. It's coming, don't worry.

Rumours are rumours and they could have turned either way.
I wanted Paper Mario Color Splash on Switch but now we get a brandnew one.
Looks like I'm buying two Paper Mario games this month.

The many re-releases from Wii U titles to Switch doesn't bother me, as I skipped the Wii U altogether during its run, so I'm playing these games for the first time anyway when they land on Switch. Can understand why Nintendo has done it too - Wii U didn't sell a great deal, and so they want to try and give the best titles another go on a more popular console.

Looking forward to jumping right into Pikmin 3 Deluxe once it releases.

@Tendo64 you and me both. I got over the fact it wasn’t Pikmin 4 and got thoroughly excited.

I looked today if the dlc of the original version was still available, but sadly that's not the case. So I gave in and went for Pikmin 3 deluxe. Pretty expensive, but there you go.

@Slowdive I want the trailer narrator to do my funeral when I pass.
