So, my dock stopped working. It did that green blinking light thing where it won't connect to the TV nor charge the switch. Luckily the switch sees most of its use handheld on the couch, and it charges fine with a USB cable hooked directly up to a power strip by said couch, so no big emergency.

Anyway, before buying a new dock, I tested just the AC adapter alone, trying to get it to charge my switch. No response. Aha, thought I, the problem is the AC adapter, now I get to save some money. Cut to today, the new official Nintendo AC adapter came, I plugged it into the dock, put my switch in, and.... Blinking green light. I tried this new AC adapter hooked right up to the switch aaaand nothing. No response. Confused I hooked my phone up to both the old and the new AC adapter, and it charges those, so I guess they work after all?

To make matters more confusing is that the Switch still charges on the 5V 2.1A usb connection on my power strip.

So where does the problem lie, here? The dock or the Switch? I'm inclined to say the Switch, but what causes such a charging pickiness?

I have a Backloggery now! Nothin' fancy, but feel free to add me as a friend.

@Axoloth Usually dock issues like switch won't display on tv are solved by "resetting the ac adapter". Resetting the ac adapter means unplugging your ac adapter and dock for 30 seconds - completely unplug the dock, remove the hdmi cable.

So, your console still works? If your console still works, make sure the console is updated.

This has some steps like mentioned above, but goes further with troubleshooting.

This next Nintendo support link resets the ac adapter and also does the "hard reset", which says hold power button for 20 seconds. I know this page's description doesn't match your scenario, but these are common things for solving other well know issues with the switch.

Generally speaking, if you can't solve something with Nintendo Support troubleshooting directions, it likely means something needs repair, or needs to be replaced. I'm thinking ,maybe, something in your dock died.

My only other as mentioned by WoomyNNYes was to try another trust friends Dock to verify if it is a problem Dock that needs repair or replacement. But try a different Dock to insure it's not related to Dock problem.
