@gcunit Yeah, I wish we could have heard a solid date for that. Now I gotta decide between getting a digital copy or waiting an unknown amount of time for the physical…

@StarPoint Wow that sounds pretty cool!! Depending on the price im going to get this!

Space and Games are similar. Space is endless and new stuff is out there waiting to be discovered. Games are always being made but the creativity is different from one game to another and so many more ideas still haven't been imagined or created yet. (That came out better than expected lol)

@GalaxicGlobe It's already up for preorder on the eshop, currently has a 20% discount so is (UK price):

  • Base game - £16.79
  • DLC - £9.99
  • Base game + DLC - £25.49

@GalaxicGlobe I strongly recommend it. On Steam the Game + DLC bundle costs about $40. So that’ll probably be around what the Switch port costs. Not sure what your budget is but it’s a higher-quality game than most $60-$70 AAA games out there.

Oh yep! There’s currently an eShop sale that puts the preorder base game at $20 and the bundle at $30. Normal priced bundle is about $40, though.

Outer Wilds is live on eshop (NA). The waiting for Switch performance review begins.

@WoomyNNYes Hopefully with how long the development of this port was, they’ve made it to run pretty well. The game does have sort of a low-poly art style to it, so that should help things. But it’s also a huge continuous space simulation so that might cause some complications.

I’d love to see Digital Foundry give their thoughts on it, though.

@WoomyNNYes The DLC is definitely different from the base game. Similar in terms of gameplay and most mechanics, but it delves into creepy atmosphere a lot more than the base game does. I still really like the DLC, but it’s definitely a more unique tone compared to the base game.

Any updates as to how it performs on the Switch?

I saw someone streaming it on Twitch, the performance looked fine but with some low resolution textures. The framerate seemed fine though.

It's a bit weird that the game was released last week, yet there are no professional reviews out for the Switch version, at least according to Metacritic. I guess they didn't send review copies in advance? I already have Outer Wilds on PC, so I definitely want to read some reviews about performance and graphical quality before double dipping.

Spoiler free tip for everyone: there’s a canister to refuel the jet pack in the ship. I may just be dumb, but it took me ages to figure that out.
Also, there is a way to instantly restart the loop from the menu, but it only unlocks after an optional conversation at the Giant’s Deep camp. Went the whole game without knowing that.

There's a performance review on Switch here.

It's mostly getting around 30fps but with dips into the low 20s in busy areas. It's not a particularly twitchy game though, so I don't think that'll cause any issues.

As for the general lack of reviews, it's a busy time of year for new releases and the gameplay is a known quantity. With it being relatively short, I'm sure a few sites will eventually get around to it though.

I'll be passing on it, for what it's worth, because I've already played and enjoyed the game on PC. If you haven't though, have at it.

Hi! I hope someone sees this...
I'm playing this through for the first time and having a blast.

[MIDGAME SPOILERS!!!!]

But I'm stuck on these three things.

I can't figure out how to enter the Tower on Brittle Hollow. My best guess currently is to get the ship down there, stand on top of it and jetpack up from there, but that's so difficult that I can't see it being the intended or only solution.

The other is getting into the Sun Station warp tower on Ash Twin. The only solution I can see is flying perfectly past the cacti, but it's, again, so hard that it can't be the only or intended solution.

The last one is reaching the Black Hole Forge District in the Hanging City. No clue at all for that one.

My last request is that whoever responds to this, could you be somewhat cryptic with your hints? I DON'T want a straight answer, otherwise I'd have just googled. Maybe give the answers to ChatGPT or Bing and have it obscure them for you if you're having trouble; just please don't make it too easy.
