Topic: Number of Profiles lock?

Hi, I’ve set my son’s switch lite parent control time but the sneaky boy’s added multiple profiles to increased his play time.
Can I reset the profiles to one only and lock this down? Otherwise the time limiting is pointless!

It's bizarre that Parental Controls prevents deleting profiles but not creating them.

Unfortunately there's nothing else that can be done about it (at the time of writing) except to ensure there are eight profiles on the console (he won't be able to delete the other seven), with the remaining profiles having a ridiculously short time limit (ideally the shortest that the Parental Control app will allow).

I would also recommend bringing this to the attention of Nintendo (if you can) so they would consider preventing users from creating additional profiles while parental controls are activated.

Or if all else fails, resort to a bit of tough love and confiscate the console when necessary.

Just take the console off of him once his screen time has elapsed or keep hold of the charger as that will also limit his game time.

Hi thanks for this info. Of course I can administer his play as a parent and I do but the settings. Are a really obvious way to both player and parent and they don’t require confrontation every day which gets tiresome and makes for unwanted bad parent child moments.

Is there a best route to informing Nintendo abut this please?

@Zodium You can also ask Nintendo support - which is easy in North America with their chat messenger or phone. Unfortunately, it may not be that convenient elsewhere since the pandemic. I notice Nintendo UK removed their support phone number and chat messenger this fall - they may be email only at the moment. AUS may be the same way.

@Zodium it doesn’t matter if more profiles are made. From the parental control app. If you set the play timer to 1 hour. It will set all profiles to 1 hour.

Thanks for all the feedback. I only bought this switch lite for his Christmas yesterday and thought I was ahead of him with setting 1.5 hrs playtime before he received it. Noticed he stopped playing it as he was all done then a little while later he was playing it again so he’d tried adding another profile to see if he could extend his time and it worked! Two profiles 1.5 hrs each. I’ll inform Nintendo so they could consider it an update if it’s not too tricky to add.
