The Lite could perfectly have an HDMI out port if Nintendo wanted to and, no, it's not expensive.
If you look closely at the video Demo the charging port looks like it's in the same place as the Big Brother so you have to wonder will this work on the Dock? Or something from Skull&Co that you can use to dock it?
The normal Switch uses a USB-C port and then the dock has an adapter or something for HDMI. Even if the dock doesn't work for Lite because of size, a cable with a converter should do the trick for Lite.
This is nice. I did pick up a second Nintendo switch Pokemon Edition for the kids for 269 so I’m looking forward to finding the price of this.
Ditching the dock the iR sensor and hd rumble should really lower its cost.
If it’s 200 pounds, I can’t see the value as it’s better to buy the switch regular and sell your dock and still have the extra features
I don’t know about you guys, but I find it dull and unexciting. It just doesn’t feel like Nintendo to me. Don’t know if I’ll pick it up since I share my current switch with my family, but geez no tv support? Why?

To get the msrp below $200 while still turning a profit on every console sold. Folks need to remember that when PS4 originally launched the console was being sold at a loss as Sony figured they'd make up the difference in licensing. Nintendo doesn't roll like that.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,540 games (as of January 28th, 2026)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)
What a train wreck. Now you got a console that doesn't even play all the games. Mario Party will be completely incompatible unless you buy separate joycons and a means of charging them, and then you're not even saving any money because the joycon and charging grips cost a fortune.
@Grumblevolcano Right. The grip I expected to be in the box, but the one that turned out to be a separate purchase. I've never seen them in a store TBH, just like the docks. But aren't the deluxe grips like €50 or something?
For those curious the 2DS at launch was $40 and $70 cheaper than the (ORIGINAL) 3DS and the 3DS XL respectively and that came out in a similar point in the 3DS life (two years in).
I did not think this was going to happen but I am glad it did. Now I can buy my kids each a Switch without worrying about them breaking or losing the joycons.
@Yorumi "Joycons are $80 so by the time you buy those and a charger you're out more money than just buying the normal switch."
It's literally the same. Joycons for $80, official charging dock is $20. That being said a pair of joycons are pretty much always on sale somewhere for less so you'd actually have a few bucks left in your pocket honestly.
Just the black'n'white model for me. I'm keen on that Pokémon S/S variant but I don't like my chances of getting it. Besides, knowing how Nintendo likes to roll with their limited editions, I'm sure every other "major" release for Switch will get its own Switch Lite. Bayonetta 3? Sold. Shin Megami Tensei V? Sold. Animal Crossing: New Horizons? Sold.
