Topic: Nintendo Switch controller randomly not responding

Hello,
I have a Nintendo Switch wired controller that i'm using on my PC and randomly its buttons and joystick stop responding while i'm playing. It's impossible to play like this, it happens all the time, is really annoying.
It was not happening two days ago, then randomly it started. I remember that this happened some time ago and then days later it stopped, then now it's back and i don't know what to do.

@Queen I feel inclined to think it's a PC glitch, and the PC is failing to recognize the controller. I don't game on my PC, but I notice every once in a while the computer fails to recognize a thumb drive being plugged in. Either updates are running in the background, or a scan. This is just my guess. I'm assuming you have tried rebooting.

@WoomyNNYes Yeah, makes sense, and i tried to reboot but it stills glitching
It worked yesterday but probably it will stop working again randomly, do you know how to make it stop doing that?

@Queen Well, if rebooting isn't solving it, which may rule out a software problem, it may indicate a hardware problem. Something broken/failing in the controller. Or maybe a bad cord.

Two options I'd consider. Look on the controller brand's website troubleshooting to see if there's anything helpful there. And, if the controller is under warranty. If it's new-ish, a store exchange may be possible.

I know Hori and PowerA make licensed nintendo switch controllers (wired controllers). If it was a red nintendo branded box for that wired controller, it could be made by one of those two brands. Without seeing your controller, I'm just guessing.

Or you may have another third party brand wired controller. I know there are at least a few other third party companies making switch controllers.

The Nintendo Switch Joy-cons and Nintendo Switch Pro Controller (wireless) are the only two controllers Nintendo actually makes.

AFAIK Nintendo doesn't make a wired controller. Look closer at the controller that is probably a Hori controller. If the controller is the problem then you need to contact them about it not Nintendo.

@Queen @SwitchForce I recall seeing Best Buy have red Nintendo Switch branded boxes for wired controllers. Granted they were actually Hori, PowerA, or PDP brand. The box branding was enough make it tough to tell what company made the controller. Here's a PDP wired controller with Nintedno Switch box branding, but you can see small "PDP" in lower right corner of box.

So, @Queen, like SwitchForce mentioned, you'd have to take a closer look at the controller, possibly the under side fine print, if you wanted to see which company made it.

In case your controller is PDP, here's a link to PDP's support page. https://support.pdp.com/hc/en-us I did not find troubleshooting for their controllers. Only warranty info, and a contact link (which may require making an account to email them)

@WoomyNNYes those aren't OEM Nintendo but 3rd party hardware using Nintendo certification. So OEM there is no wired Nintendo controller like the Pro controller made by Nintendo. That's what when I refer to as Genuine Nintendo.

@SwitchForce Sigh.... I know Nintendo did not make a corded controller. My point above was, the OP may have thought their corded switch controller was Nintendo made, because of the packaging of some third party controllers looks like Nintendo's OEM branded controllers. See how these two boxes have official looking red Nintendo branding on the boxes? One is Nintendo, the other is actually PDP.
