Hi there,

So last week I was charging up my OG switch and my daughters switch lite, and now both switch's are broken. Tried booting both into maintenance mode and no dice. If I press the power button, the screen shows the Nintendo logo, then goes blank and shows the empty battery signal in the corner. I had one instance with my switch where it booted and showed an error message, but it turned off way too quickly for me to get a note of which error code it was. I have tried several different chargers and nothing is working. Really stumped. The battery is 100% drained, but nothing will charge, and like I said I cant boot it into maintenance mode.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Contact Nintendo and set up a repair. The repair services have always been friendly and knowledgeable. If its still under warranty you may get it repaired for free.

@psychicbat I don't know if this is your case, but if the switch battery gets run down all the way, sometimes the switch won't let you turn it back on again until it's gotten a lot of charge or full charge. Although sometimes, the switch won't let you boot it up again until it's been on a charger for 24-48 hours.(a quirk of the system). If you have completely run down the batteries, this is a good reason to fully shut down the console, so the battery doesn't fully deplete when not in use for longer periods.

Sometimes sleep mode's power saving can glitch, especially if a game is left open, and sometimes the battery will run down in sleep mode way faster than expected.

But for this depleted battery scenario, the screen usually just stays black & won't let you even boot up to the nintendo logo. So, I'm not certain this is your issue.

If the same problem happened to two different systems, I would recommend you to check what are you using to charge them with. The problem might be external to your switches!
