Hello everyone, 1st time here.
I just have a question.. i was thinking on buying a Nintendo switch but not sure if i should buy game cards or Download them of the shop? but i know if you download them you will get more gold coins, so to my point.
Does anyone know when the rewards are coming in? any ideas how much gold coins would be for a switch game?
because i saw it now for just a wii u add on its 100 gold coins. do you think it would be at least 300-400 coins for lets say Mario kart?
Unfortunately you will never get a game for coins. Most you get is maybe 15% off of something. I wouldn't advice you give their rewards program a second thought. It's not worth the investment.
@Bunkerneath Oh okay thanks! i was just thinking, i know card games get 15 coins and for digital game you can get 50 + per game but knowing nintendo, that could be 500 gold coins for a game if they even do one.
I have gotten up to 50% off discounts on the eshop. Pretty sure. Just recently actually. But yeah, so far the rewards program is a whole lotta nothing. Although, there is a “coming soon” Switch section. Probably waiting for the online/Virtual Console system to be implemented.
@TeeJay I really don't want to sound like I'm defending MyNintendo as it's indefensible but I wouldn't say there will "never" be a game redeemable for gold coins. There has been in the past, I got Metroid Fusion for 80 gold coins on Wii U and there has been others like Mario 64 . There's also a couple of games available right now, X-type and another I forget the name of. Plus the 2 Mario Kart 8 DLC packs are available in exchange for coins. I'm logged onto the South African MyNintendo just now as I created an account and bought Double Dragon from its Eshop earlier, and Gunman Clive HD (40 gold), Year Walk (60 gold) and Super Luigi U DLC (100 gold) on Wii U are available for free. For 3DS there is Mighty Switch Force (50 gold) and Siesta Fiesta (40 gold) available for free.So it's possible we'll see similar rewards available for Switch when it eventually arrives.
@Faithkid92 The Switch Eshop has quite a lot of sales, games are added to it all the time. It's mostly made up of indie games though but some of the discounts are pretty decent. It can range between 10% to 50%.Occasionally retail games are discounted and there was a 1st party sale on there over Xmas.
As for free games, if there are any added to the Switch section in future it will likely only ever be for indie and retro games or perhaps DLC for first party games. The coins seem to have a value of 100 gold =$10. So if there was a game available for coins that costs say $12 on the Eshop, it would cost around 120 gold coins. But as others have said, it's been terrible so far so I wouldn't give it any thought. If Switch rewards appear and it's an improvement on the past then it's worth considering. The online subscription, whenever that arrives will supposedly have discounts for members too.
The rewards program isn't terrible... but it's nothing special. Certainly not a deciding factor on whether to buy physical or download. I highly prefer physical, not only to keep space on the SD free, but because I like having physical cases and game cards.

I hope they fix it before coins start to expire, if you only have switch then there is not a lot to spend them on. Glad i have held off on registering any physical games so far.
Its a super poor showing so far. Nothing to reward switch only early adopters .
My Nintendo isn't bad per se, but Club Nintendo before it was much better. I've gotten some use out of the program (mainly discounted Virtual Console entries that I haven't picked up yet), but gold coins still expire a little too quickly for my liking.
The program is currently useless to anyone if you don't have a 3DS, Wii U, or one of the Nintendo games available on mobile. They have a Switch section that says "Coming Soon", but it's been that way for Arceus knows how long.
Currently playing: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr's Journey, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (Switch)
@OorWullie Yeah i notice the Mario Kart 8 DLC as well but its 7.99 usd to buy. so i was just saying imagine if they do A SWITCH game, that would be almost 600 coins lol but if they do. but yeah true.
Thanks everyone for commenting! i might just stick to card games to be honest. the coins is not worth it. Even if they do have switch games, it would be 500 + coins and that is a lot of money on games to buy.
