@FishyS Iām not expecting a general Direct. I think whatever is shown will be almost entirely third party, assuming Nintendo has anything to reveal at all. I think Nintendo are going to stay quiet on a new announcement front until 2nd April.

@FragRed If it were a general direct I feel like it would be a less hype one simply to fill out the schedule ā buncha third party games, maybe smaller Nintendo Switch 1 games or ports for February, April, May, maybe Pikmin 4 DLC or something. Basically things made for Switch 1 which they don't think are major enough to have in the Switch 2 direct.
But last year they had a first party game and NSO information in a partner showcase and also twitter-announced games so they may go that route again instead. In which case the 'direct the week after financial meeting' pattern doesn't really apply.
I'm torn between February 6th and next week at this point for when the Direct airs. There wasn't a Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered trailer for February 4th and Tuesday is trailer day so I could see an outcome where a trailer was saved for a Direct later on in the week.
February 5th seems out of the question for any kind of Direct considering even the 2022 and 2024 Partner Showcases were announced in advance.
However February 6th is Take Two earnings day which could mean the long GTA6 silence comes to an end. At the very least Take Two would provide an update on whether the game is delayed or still on track for Fall 2025. Seems risky to do a Direct that day which makes it seem like Nintendo would pick next week for a Direct instead.

That's more the type of stuff I'd expect to see in a Direct Mini or Partner Showcase more than a general Direct, which is why I've been skeptical about the idea of us getting a Switch 1 focused general Direct this month. When they announce a general Direct, I expect a minimum of two pretty major reveals as the first game shown and the 'one last thing' otherwise it's just a terrible Direct that wasn't worth having and it's hard to see that happening for Switch 1 now with all Nintendo's focus presumably on Switch 2.
@BenAV Whether they call it a mini or something else, I could certainly imagine a 20 minute direct rather than 40 minutes. The only real reason to think anything is happening is that there are almost certainly both first and third party games coming out before Switch 2 which need to be announced somewhere so either we get something vaguely direct-formated or we get multiple small events and announcements. People are mainly thinking direct because of supposed leaks but similar leaks were completely wrong in February last year so who knows really.
@BenAV They did use TotK multiple times as the Direct closer (June 2019, June 2021, September 2022 and February 2023) so they could have Prime 4 be the closer again.
@BenAV I think a Fire Emblem remake would be a good fit for a Direct opener. The franchise has opened Directs a few times before and Echoes of Valentia (the last FE remake) was a 3DS game a few months after the Switch launched so the next remake being a Switch 1 game close to Switch 2 launch would be kind of similar.
One possibility I am worried about though is that @VoidofLight ends up being right about Pokemon Gen 10 in November 2025. In that outcome the Direct may start with Legends Z-A so that the Pokemon Presents ends up focusing on Gen 10.
@Grumblevolcano Ehh, even if we get Gen 10 in the Presents, I doubt Z-A will be at the direct. It'll probably be like how BDSP and PLA were shown off in the same presents. Z-A shown off first, then Gen 10 teased like how SV was at the end of the 2022 Presents. After that, radio silence on SV until after Z-A releases, and Z-A getting the focus on marketing for the series.
I'd imagine the teaser for Gen 10 would be pretty barebones. Something that doesn't show the game, or if it does show the game- it shows things like artwork of the new starters and a few still environments with a couple of Pokemon we already know walking around. Nothing too deep until after Z-A releases.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
@Grumblevolcano I still think if the best they have to show is a remake and a game we already know about then they should just make it a Mini and then do a seperate Partner Showcase if there's enough third party stuff.
@PikminMarioKirby I just saw this on their YouTube channel posts section. So either a total screw up or they arenāt having a February Direct and this is the next one we will get.

Not sure if this is their way of saying no presentation til April or a reminder that switch 2 info is on the horizon so people donāt complain when a soon-announced direct has the āthere will be no mention of itā disclaimer.
Bit of an odd announcement, at this point in time I mean.
My heart's saying that this is reconfirming the date for everyone so we bear it in mind when a Switch 1 direct drops but my head's saying this means nothing at all XD
@PikminMarioKirby I'm leaning towards it being a case of an investor focused announcement like how they announced when the January 2017 Presentation was taking place at the October 2016 investor meeting.
Unless they're announcing a Switch 1 Direct in 30 minutes, this does seem to rule out a Direct this week.
