If Legends ZA releases in January, and they follow the same pattern from Arceus.. Maybe we'll get a XY remake this year? đ
It's weird enough that it actually could happen. đ
@Euler they wouldâve said Nintendo switch and not âswitch systemsâ I think. This is almost a confirmation of the next console coming in 2025 honestly

Is this the first tease that a successor console is coming from a publisher/developer? Will be interesting to see if others start saying âNintendo Switch systemsâ going forward for anything announced for next year.

I don't think Pokemon games - especially an announcement as vague as this one - can be taken to mean much regarding the Switch successor.
Pokemon games have often only started coming out a few years into a system's life and, on many occasions, have released on the "old" system after its successor's release.
OG Switch logo (not releasing it for the OG Switch would be considered false advertising pretty much anywhere Nintendo markets its products), Nintendo said that the Switch will be their main focus for this year, the Switch continues to sell at full price, and the internet rumourmongers are now saying 2025 because it's not coming this year. Trying to parse "Switch systems" out of that is a rather desperate cope.

Only Ultra-type games, not something new entirely.
@Euler switch coming out in 2026 or later is the cope. It doesn't take internet rumors to see what's coming. Just admit you don't want the switch 2 to happen soon.
The rumors that Switch 2 was delayed to 2025 started a few weeks ago (and therefore are not backpedaling due to today's news @Euler), and were corroborated by multiple outlets, not "random people on the internet". It comes from Nintendo telling 3rd party publishers of the delay. There's no reason not to believe this. Once we get into June and we still haven't had a reveal, you'll see why it's not coming in 2024 @Sigran102.
And @Euler, a new Pokemon game releasing on Switch has no bearing on when Switch 2 is releasing. If it did, and we followed your logic, then the Gen 5 games releasing on DS clearly means no DS successor until 2013 or later. Oh wait.
And it's pretty clear that Switch 2 is coming sooner, rather than later. 2026 would be entering late Wii territory where momentum has fallen off a cliff. They'll be lucky if that doesn't happen in the 1st half of this year, considering how incredibly niche the majority of their lineup is. They can't afford to release any later than early next year
@IceClimbers I don't deny that it's possible for it to be next year, but imo believing rumors from anonymous sources is just dumb. Whether it's this year or next, I won't pay attention to internet clout chasers who are wrong 90% of the time. My guess of 2024 is based purely on what we can see from nintendo, and if June passes with no reveal, I'll adjust my guess accordingly.
@Sigran102 I mean I think they're likely not broadcasting how exactly they know because people could get in trouble if they told us and they'd preferably not cut off their insider knowledge. There's a large number of rumors, so it's not just a few nobodies, and again, it's very large news outlets all corroborating the same story. The rumors have weight because the people supporting them have weight if that makes any sense.
Can I do a completionist run of video game history? (It's still being made so we'll see)
Currently Playing: Unicorn Overlord (Switch)
Next Up: Sand Land (PC)
Panic (Reality)
@Sigran102@Euler Both of you are straight up delusional.

An E ticket game doesn't prove the next console is coming in 2026, but it is strong evidence against the next console coming out before the game is released (as before, only "Ultra"-type Pokemon games get released during the lame duck phase of a console's lifespan - not new entries). That is coupled with the fact that Nintendo said the Switch will be their main focus for this year, the Switch continuing to sell at full price, and the people that were 100% confident that the "Switch 2" would be out this year backpedaling.
Switch games will continue to have momentum as long as there's a strong lineup of new games. We already have one E ticket title due for 2025, plus whatever else gets revealed during the spring/quasi-E3 directs for the holiday season (nobody knew Super Mario Bros. Wonder even existed until June 2023).
These are the same outlets that said a direct was happening in January of this year. And the same ones that told us there was definitely going to be a switch plus.
Itâs all absolute nonsense until you hear it from horses mouth.
This reminds me of a The Simpsons meme, Homer had stock in pumpkins but doesnât sell it in Halloween when pumpkins are at their most popular, he sells the stock later when they are at their least popular and makes very little money.
@chiiizu the same outlets have been wrong countless times, even when many corroborated the same thing. Biggest example is the switch pro, but there was also Star Fox Grand Prix and countless direct rumors. No matter how many sites say it, it's still just a rumor and should be taken with a grain of salt. With the exception of Pyoro since he has a 100% track record, I don't believe anyone unless Nintendo confirms it.
I called bullcrap on the switch pro rumors at the time as well. I'm not a rumor follower. I simply see that all the evidence currently points to a release this year. It's possible for it to be early next year, but that would be very strange, especially with pokemon having 0 games this year unless they're saving it for after the switch 2 announcement.
I will say, Pokemon Legends Z is a real fan appreciation type of move for the next Pokemon game, especially taking the bold stance to not release a brand new Pokemon RPG two holiday seasons in a row. (read: trying to have actual quality control and respect for your own products)
@Euler This isn't a rumour based question anymore though...
Economic analyzing of many keyfactors like financial data or potential partners for technical components suggest that a new consile is coming before 2026.
@kkslider5552000 Very true. And if gamefreak is really holding back to focus on quality and not just because they're waiting for the new system to be announced, then we could see a HUGE improvement in their games. Legends Z could be absolutely incredible if they really take the time to polish it.
@Euler Having the next Legends game be a cross-system release for next year would make a ton of sense. The number one complaint of Arceus was the graphics and that could more easily be improved with better hardware.
A nice surprise, Gen 6 is up there as one of my favourite Pokemon gens. I do wonder if the 2025 release suggests that 2024 is a year off or if a 2024 game is being saved for general Direct like what happened last year with Detective Pikachu Returns (rather than being in February Pokemon Presents, it appeared in June general Direct). Hoping for the former as it gives more time and increases the chance of the big holiday title being something like WWHD/TPHD double pack.
Think they could do a gen 6 remake for this year and have the releases be similar to Brilliant Diamond and Arceus?
