@Slowdive so you're saying Stars was near confirmed but cancelled anyway even though Pokémon is beloved but they wouldn't cancel the near confirmed Mario games as Mario is beloved. I don't even think Ninty has final say on the Pokémon releases as it's co-published with Pokémon Company.
It's so much easier to take things with a pinch of salt and not believe every rumour is a fact than have convoluted reasons as to why the rumours are 100% true when they are not.
@status-204 it's appeal was more than hardcore Marvel fans, it's the 3rd best selling PS4 game and it got to that point fairly quickly.
Gotta say, I don't get why people are so obsessed with rumours and leaks. I admit it makes some sense at the moment seeing as Nintendo has been so quiet for so long and people are anxious to find out what they're releasing soon, but still, am I the only person who finds it far more exciting to find out about a game from an official announcement (especially a Direct) rather than just 'insiders' and 'sources'?
Thank you Nintendo for giving us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Nintendo Music
@mariomaster96 Yeah if it's just a Direct date then it's fair enough, although those 'leaks' seem to be wrong about 80% of the time anyway. I just don't like when the game announcements get spoiled in advance.
Thank you Nintendo for giving us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Nintendo Music
@Dogorilla Yep, I agree. We've been getting way too many leaks lately and it really takes away the excitement of an announcement when everyone already saw it coming. Aside from the person making the leak being able to say "I told you so", there's not really any point to them. If they're right then it takes away from the announcement and if they're wrong then a bunch of irrational people get upset over nothing.
@Dezzy Yeah I know. But that was a remaster worth buying. And SOTC was only €40 as well. Nintendo sold their half-baked TP remaster for €60(!!!). So as long as they're asking full price for it, I expect AAA tier. They don't even have to make the game itself, so they can pour all those resources into the graphical upgrade.
It's tricky though, because they probably put more time and energy into the TP remaster than they did the WW remaster. Yet WW feels like the bigger improvement to most people. Sometimes it just depends on the original material they're working with and what is easily improved.
@damien33ad i can see this happening, but i advice everyone hype to remain controled just in case the suposed general Nintendo Direct everyone is talking about turn out to be a Mini Nintendo Direct, you don't want another Partners Showcase situation again do you?please everyone keep your expectations in check just in case if the suposed general Nintendo Direct of next week turn out to be a Nintendo Direct Mini.
@Dezzy Yeah, that's true as well. WW is one of those games that ages very well. But you can also question the pricing of that remaster, since it probably didn't require a lot of work at all.
@Slowdive I only skim-read the thread because I didn't want spoilers so I just saw a lot of discussion about leaks and what various insiders have said, but looking back it seems like it was mostly just about the date of a Direct rather than any specific game, so I guess that's fine. My opinion still stands though when it comes to leaks of actual games; it annoys me when people fixate on leaks rather than just being patient and seeing what gets officially announced, which I feel is more rewarding. We've already had the Mario remasters spoiled if those are indeed real; I currently couldn't care less about those but maybe I'll feel differently if we actually get to see them instead of just being told they exist. But yes, you're right that there's bound to be plenty of other things coming that we don't know about yet.
Thank you Nintendo for giving us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Nintendo Music
i advice everyone expectation to be controlled, if the rumored general Nintendo Direct that everyone is talking about, even a jornalist/Leaker of a Brazilan site to keep in check, if the rumored general Nintendo Direct turn out to be a Nintendo Direct Mini, we don't want another Partners Showcase situation again don't yes i don't want?
Yeah but that's never how prices get determined is it? Prices are determined base on what subjective value an item has to the consumer, not based on what objective value it took to create.
How much do you think Animal Crossing cost to make? What about Cyberpunk? They're selling for the same price (and will probably sell a similar number of copies), but I guarantee one cost a lot more to make.
@Dezzy I don't think I entirely agree. Older games generally get cheaper over time. And that's a good thing, because the last thing I'd want is this industry to regurgitate old games for full price just because they provide the same perceived value of a new game.
Yes but they get cheaper because people place a lower subjective value on them, usually because they've had so many other ways of playing them over the years, or because they seem less impressive by modern standards.
They couldn't just regurgitate any old game and sell it for full price, because people wouldn't be willing to pay that.
My only point was that the changes they make in order to resell something at retail don't necessarily need to correspond to a high budget for the developer. They can be things that have a high value for the audience but are very cheap for the developer. Like the Swift Sail in Wind Waker.
@Dezzy Maybe we can conclude that Nintendo fans value Nintendo games way too highly
And yeah, the swift sail, I personally wouldn't pay for that. Even at €30, I think it's fine to expect little changes like that. Anyway, I did buy it at full price, so who am I to say that. But I've learned my lessen ever since.
