I was originally excited about possibly pre-ordering these. But they aren’t shipping until December I’m seeing. Then the fact that they won’t work on any other games is a bummer. It got me thinking if these are really worth buying. You can buy a pair of joycons for about $70 on Amazon and use them for everything. What are your thoughts about these?
Not a chance that I'll buy these. I'd rather spend the money on extra 8bitdo controllers with a decent d-pad, so that you can use the controllers for everything. I currently don't need any extra input devices though. I have two controllers with a proper d-pad and four joy-cons, so I'm good for now
My thoughts upon the anouncement of the NES controllers was "Well, that's cool. I want them... wait, I remember the blisters the NES controller's d-pad would routinely cause. Maybe I don't want them, I don't like generating holes in my thumbs by playing games."
@FaeKnight I agree with you. I was excited too at first. I figure the joycons will be plenty good enough to play these games. I’ve already put $70 into the NES Classic and a spare controller. Not much of a need for these.
I thought they were neat, but even during the direct I thought "I'd probably get an 8BitDo instead at that price". Plus, as Fae said, I got lots of blisters as a youngster with these things. I just finished putting together Labo 3 on Sunday morning, and that gave my nubs a work out, too. I'm just gonna save that money for another game or something. I'm sure super ultra mega collectors will like them...in the package.

They look like a waste of money to me. I don't see myself pouring loads of time into playing the nes games online so my joycons will do. Plus i already own the classic nes mini, so I'm over the nostalgia.
Who can blame Nintendo for trying. I'm quite sure there's a small minority of casual gamers who really like stuff like this and who would complain if accessoires like this wouldn't be available. After all, it's only logical that Nintendo at least provides the option to play as authentic as possible.
