This is why Minecraft is one of my favorite games to play online. I like playing on the featured servers with random players, and as long as you stay out of the PvP games, it's usually a pretty chill and fun experience.

I enjoy playing online multiplayer games, and I mostly play casually, I don't do ranked modes as that's usually where the more competitive hang out. As for toxic players, if a game has voice chat, I usually turn it off in favor of using Discord call with friends if I'm playing with my friends. I do sometimes run into competitive people in casuals/unranked, but it's not common for me. Of course going by my personal experience.

Will admit, I somewhat blame streamer culture on it. I have no problem watching streams of games I like, but I can't help if some viewers try to be like them when gaming, and trying too hard to be like them.

I also somewhat blame the battle royale genre. The point of battle royale is to eliminate players until one player or team is standing. When you get eliminated, you're basically forced to go back to the main menu and join a new game, you can't really chill out and have fun because you're focused on surviving. This is why I love Apex Legend's arenas mode, if I get eliminated, I can come back next round and try again up to 3-9 rounds, playing, and having fun and getting better while doing it, instead of staying out of enemy's sights until the right time.

I don't hate BRs or watching streams, but it's just something I thought about, this is just a guess or what I think from observing games and streaming trends.

As for Splatoon 3, I haven't played it, but played plenty of Splatoon (Wii U) and Splatoon 2, and causal games are always fun. Once in awhile I come across a tough player that feels like they're overly competitive, but it's not often.
