@Haru17 I've argued that point before. Nintendo wants the switch to be seen as a home console with the super ability of getting it on the go. As a handheld it would just be... Game boy switch. The real stuff is on PlayStation.
Which is exactly the brand damage Nintendo should not want. Having xx in the West next to world on ps4 pigeonholes switch into "cute, for a portable" category. Exactly the image that would risk traction for this system.
I doubt we'll ever see xx on switch going west. I consider it highly likely Nintendo stops that to some degree.
There will be a monster Hunter on switch at some point, it's just a while off yet.
Well World has certainly brought Nintendo back to the bargaining table for MH games unless they're incompetent or holding grudges (read: stupid). There's a good chance of NoA localizing the next new MH game in English.
@Haru17
No, I was talking about the Switch port specifically. Capcom specifically stated it saw "strong sales". Their words not mine. I don't think they only care about sales between certain time frames I think they care about the bottom line overall and when everything was said and done they said it performed unexpectedly well, along with Resident Evil Revelations and USFII.
edit
Btw, I don't think Nintendo ever left the bargaining table. They've been publishing MH games in the west since 3U. And I half expect if MHXX comes stateside, it'll be under the Nintendo logo. Of course, it's most likely Capcom who'll be the one who needs to be smart here. They need to be careful not to piss Nintendo off so they don't flush 5 million potential sales per release down the toilet. Otherwise they've accomplished little by simply migrating one profit generating platform for a set of 3 at a much higher expense of development.
The only way they truly win is if they keep what the already had, and tack PS4/X1/PC profits on top of it. Multiplatform releases that generate 12m sales across all platforms has to be the ultimate end game (although I doubt they'll ever see that much, for one- because a lot of the new players who hopped on were likely not ready for the complexity of the game they bought and probably stopped playing after 45 minutes, so the next entry will see less conflated numbers of only those who truly stick around, and for two because a lot of the Nintendo/Sony sales would overlap, although it could be argued that a lot of fans would buy both versions and they could end up with double sales but, I have no idea how many people that would entail).
As much as I would like to believe they would simply develop a portable line of games separately that doesn't really help their bottom line nearly as much as the alternative. It's still two separate teams working on two separate games which each generate millions of sales. But if each team worked on two separate games and each of those separate games released on ALL platforms as truly multiplatform releases, so as to cash in on the Scrooge pile of gold on consoles and the Scrooge pile of gold on portables simultaneously, Capcom would be sitting on top of the world.
@erv pigeonholes switch into "cute, for a portable" category
Maybe for salivating fanboys but for most normal people (i.e. 95% of gamers) that's not how they're going to see it, at all. Most normal people understand a portable system will never offer the same level as a power console. Just because it doesn't offer the same level doesn't make it "cute for a portable". It's a powerhouse of a machine and running games we've never seen the likes of on a handheld system before. And the Monster Hunter fanbase in particular is so used to playing the games 240p that they're not gonna care. It's not like it's an either or proposition where you have to choose one over the other. Is it just yet one more way to enjoy a series you love.
Not to mention the fact this is just a port of a 3DS game anyways. Once a ground up game is released it's not going to look "cute for a portable". That's such an adolescent mindset (no offense). Zelda doesn't even come close to matching Witcher 3 in visuals or production value, but people are still lapping up the Switch in droves. Nobody cares, they just see great games and an awesome system and they want it.
Any person who would think such a thing isn't going to pay attention to it anyways because they are likely part of a demographic that only buys the flashiest, most advertised, biggest budget games there are and hops on whatever the current bandwagon of the month is. Fans who actually love the series and have been supporting it for the last 10 years will be glad to have it. And anyone who is not, doesn't have to buy it, but it's not going to hurt the Switch's image. It's image isn't based on being a PS4. It's based on being a quirky Nintendo console with crazy versatility that's really powerful for a handheld. Just because it's really powerful for a handheld doesn't mean having less demanding games is going to suddenly hurt it's image. It is a portable system so it shouldn't shock anyone to see games like MHXX (though again it should be said this is a 3DS game).
Almost every normal person I talk to at my work is not hard-core into games and doesn't visit fansites every day doesn't give a flip about whether MHXX looks like World or not. There's so many other games with great graphics for the portable that not every single game has to be cutting edge. Of course it's not as good as World- it's a port from a handheld on par with a GameCube. And the only people who would be paying attention to the game in the first place are gamers who care about the series. They're going to buy a Switch anyways for all the other games on the system. This being on the system isn't going to stop them. It might turn a few people off from the series, but that's a totally separate discussion.

That's possibly the factor that has comvinced me to buy it. Wouldn't want to repeat everything I did in Generations and I feel this is very poor effort on Capcoms part. But you know... Monster Hunter on Switch!!!

Keep it PG-13-ish.
That's what'll happen though. Granted this is only because we as Nintendo gamers are so used to this being the case now that we are numb to it XD
@Yosheel I believe the Switch is set up so that if you get a game in one region like Japan and it is later released in the West, it auto updates with new languages or something similar.
