The console is future-proofed up to 2TB. But the largest card on the market is 512GB I believe. And as ballistic90 mentioned, stick with brand names, Samsung or SanDisk are the popular choices. After than it's down to space vs. price. In my opinion 200GB at around $50 is a good value.

SanDisk's 200GB card is the most cost-effective at the moment. 256GB is more expensive, relatively speaking, but that is the next best option, but by the time you fill up the 200GB card, I imagine that 400GB cards will become a lot more affordable. This is, of course, assuming that you will be buying retail games.
If you intend to go all digital and you intend on buying a lot of major games, then you will most likely need multiple microSD cards (which I feel defeats the purpose of going all digital, especially for larger games where only a few of them will fill up the microSD card).
Thanks again everyone for the great advice. Just a bit of random information my first Nintendo console was the game cube and my favourite games on the Switch are B. O. T. W, Stardew Valley, Old Man's journey and Steamworld dig
