@Spoony_Tech agreed.. im paying 30 for Super Mario Odyssey after discounts and coupon. Comes with the Cappy Coin and A poster as well along with a 10$ certificate ill use for a future game.
Well, my Amazon order is on the way. I've ordered multiple difficult-to-obtain items from them over the years, such as the Fire Emblem Fates Special Edition and the version of ZTD that came with the watch. Not once have they ever let me down.
@Snaplocket Don't need to live near one as they ship as well. I always get my games day one from them. Prime is good as well I just don't feel like paying a monthly fee whereas BB is only $30 a year.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
I am actually totally hyped for this game at this point.. i wanted to get a physical copy but decided i have to wait for my check so i might as well go digital since it's only 5gb and figured Mario of all games should just be on the hard drive anyway.. so i have to wait until like 3 or 4 am Fri morning for my check to be deposited.
I think hype cannot describe my feelings about this game anymore. To think the oh so conservative Ninty went back to the sandbox gameplay of Mario 64 (and Sunshine, I‘m excluding that one a bit because there were already large signs of linearity, like the fact you couldn‘t tackle any mission you wanted whenever you wanted, the literal signs pointing you the right way and that you needed to do the seventh mission of each level to unlock Bowser), my Mario. That‘s what Mario has always been to me: The freedom to tackle any mission you want, the freedom to explore the worlds and look for hidden collectibles. I know his 2D platforming days came first but that‘s not how I first encountered Mario, it was Mario 64. That‘s also where my absolute disdain of 3D Land and 3D World come from and the entire direction Nintendo took the franchise starting in the late DS era: Everything had to look and feel like NSMB. Squeaky clean, same locals and story, no matter the genre, and worse of all: No heart or soul, no experimenting. That‘s why Odyssey is also a spark of hope to me. The spark of hope of bringing Mario & Luigi, Paper Mario, Mario Party and the sports titles back to their glory days. But alas this is but a dream ....
Oh god, I‘m rambling again, right? Just ... just ignore this entire comment. I think I‘m feeling a little sentimental today, that‘s all. Little more than 18 hours CEST!
My copy from ShopTo in the UK has just arrived - good thing too as I'm off on holiday tomorrow! Now I wonder how much work I'll get done before I start playing...
@GoldenGamer88 You couldn't tackle any mission in 64 either. Koopa the Quick doesn't show up unless you specifically enter the episode with him in it. It's only true for most the overworld stars that don't require a boss fight or a scripted event.
@Octane: However, it is true for almost all stars. By entering a level, there were many possibilities for which star to go. Maybe one or two stars were not possible (like Koopa the Quick). In Mario Sunshine it was the other way around: You entered the level and had to go for the chosen star at the beginning.
@Octane That‘s true, but in Sunshine you could only tackle the mission you were given. Same with the Galaxy games, except you could do the secret stars if you know what you‘re doing. I‘d say being able to tackle a different mission than the one given was the rule in 64 whereas it was the exception in the Galaxy games. Looking at Odyssey and the fact you won‘t be exiting a world upon collecting a moon, the freedom to tackle any mission is now absolute.

@Chandlero@GoldenGamer88 True, but as someone who wants to collect every star anyway, that wasn't a big deal to me. In fact, I actually liked the way Sunshine handled the episodes. Whilst Mario 64's levels stayed mostly the same, Sunshine's levels changed over the course of the game, and each world has its own mini story arc. You can often find the same NPCs in the levels, but the things they say change depending on the episode. There's a lot of context, and I liked that. This wasn't possible in 64. Sunshine solves this partly by introducing secret stars that you can get in nearly every mission, and the blue coins, meaning that there's always something to collect besides the main objective.
The irony is that while you can't do anything scripted out of order in 64, you can actually fight Petey Piranha during the first episode in Bianco Hills! But that's more of an exception than a rule.
@Octane It totally agree. I also really liked the setup of Sunshine. The mini events were funny and changed the gameplay a lot. I like it when Nintendo tries something new in games.
However, I think, not using the sandbox layout was a missed opportunity in later games. And going back to level screens in Galaxy 2 was a cheap move all over.
For me: I want to relive the feeling and the experience that I had when playing Mario 64 twenty years ago.
@Chandlero I think what ''hurt'' Galaxy the most was that every world had only two or three episodes, and the fact that most levels were completely linear. The gravity-based planets make up for that though. Galaxy 2 didn't have a HUB world, and the levels were even more linear. Less stages were based around the gravity-based planets from Galaxy 1, and I also felt that the entire game lacked the atmosphere of the first one. A lot of simple skyboxes, when the game is called Super Mario Galaxy 2.
I prefer 3D World over Galaxy 2 actually, because 3D World goes all out on the linear stages and plays more like a 2D Mario in 3D.
Was really quite excited yesterday when amazon sent me an email saying my copy has been dispatched. What with me being a Prime member, I’ll definitely be getting it today right? Wrong! Turns out they have handed it over to Royal Mail, the swines, and now I have to wait until tomorrow like everyone else 😤
