Lol well my prediction that both Mario releases would sell around 10 million is looking pretty good.
3D All-Stars already sold more copies than TLOU 2. So I might have even underestimated it? TLOU has sold something like 7-8 million so far, so Mario 3D All Stars might have already crossed that 10 million threshold, Lol
@BlueOcean As much as I love Nintendo's games, I really dislike limited time stuff in general. Not just this game, but as a whole. I like to buy my games whenever I can. If I can't buy it right away, then I'd like to buy it at a later date. I bought Burnout Paradise a month after it was out. Not everyone can buy a game on day of release.
I have my copy pre-ordered from Amazon, but I don't pre-order often. I usually pre-order a game online if I want it day of release and can't make it to a store. So I pre-order to have it delivered to my home.
I could understand if "limited edition" means game with a collector book and extra, and then they sell a "standard edition" with just the game. This seems to be applied to all copies of this game.

@Sunsy Yes, a special edition which is limited is fine as long as there is a normal edition but Super Mario 3D All-Stars only has one edition and for the first time in history a publisher is limiting the digital edition at the same time. A special edition of this in a cardboard box with some extras would have been nice but it's incredible that Super Mario Galaxy 2 was excluded when it's clear that none of the games have been remade.
We'll have a better idea of the situation on Friday. Because of the new eshop preorder system (ability to cancel preorders over 7 days in advance, predownload happens 7 days before launch), we don't know if 3D All Stars shows up on the Switch as 3D All Stars or as separate icons for 64, Sunshine and Galaxy.
If the latter ends up being the case it'll be extremely obvious that Nintendo's plan is standalone releases after March 2021.
Yeah good point actually. There are some differences between region. But it's still generally predictive of the sales elsewhere.
If you go back to Mario Odyssey for comparison, it was the #1 best seller in the US in 2017, whereas in most european countries it was like 3rd or 4th. So the patterns are similar but not identical. 3D Mario and Zelda both have their biggest markets in the US though, that is a common pattern.
@BlueOcean Indeed. That's the weirder part too as digital games never run out of copies. At least digital does give people the option of buying if they can't get a hand on a physical copy. A unrelease date is news to me.
This is coming from someone who has a couple of special edition DVDs. I got extras with them, but I still see the standard edition sold for those who just want to see the movie.

Yeah I checked on the UK version and it's currently 7th best selling for 2020. So not quite as high. Already higher than FF7 Remake though, which has been out for 6 months. So that's still quite impressive!
@Apportal They already had developed bonus content for Super Mario 64 DS, just include that, polish a little bit here and there and you have a remake of a legendary game. Or as simple as asking Grezzo that made two great Nintendo 64 remakes. Excluding Super Mario Galaxy 2 when they didn't remake Super Mario Galaxy is an insult. It's not "all stars" as it is.
@Slowdive The difference is that Metroid Prime Trilogy was sold on the Wii U eShop for €20. That fact alone makes me think they can't turn it into a €60 limited title. But this is Nintendo...
Didn’t Nintendo sell the Donkey Kong port for full price 60, after the release on the Wii U was commonly around 50 or less? This wouldn’t be surprising.
It’s rare that Nintendo doesn’t charge full price for stuff.
I don’t think a limited release is necessarily the best approach, at the same time I don’t really see it affecting me whatsoever. Why should I care about something that doesn’t affect me. Not that I would choose to make it limited if I were in charge and it were my decision, but I can’t really say I care either way. Just sounds like a bunch of complaints from people that will have plenty of opportunity to procure over the next 6 months. If someone tries to buy for 6 entire months and fails, then I’ll give their complaint merit. But I don’t believe that’s going to be the case.
In fact, I think there’s nothing wrong with limited time releases if that’s how they want to sell certain games. As a celebration it makes sense, and as a reward to loyal Switch gamers who actually bought the console in the first few years, that’s appreciated (although people who don’t on the console can still buy the game).
And of course Metroid Prime Trilogy will be $60. Come on now. Of course it will be.
I think the complaints are valid but at the same time Nintendo have very commonly been stingy in this regard so it’s not surprising to me. I feel like people have the same conversations every time Nintendo does this kind of stuff but nothing ever comes from it and Nintendo just does whatever so it’s more like a thing you just gotta accept and move on from.
@-Green- Yeah, a couple of Wii U games were €20 Selects titles, and they still sold them for €60 a piece on Switch. That's very true. Still, MPT was already a collection of older games on the Wii, then it was ported to the Wii U for €20. So I think it's unlikely it'll end up as a full priced port on Switch. But yeah, like I said, this is Nintendo, you never know.

Don't underestimate the power of The Switch Tax. Also, Metroid Prime Trilogy on Wii U was sold at 9.99 for two weeks! How much will it cost on Switch? LOL
Amazon Mexico seems to have a consistent stock for now. It's a little bit more expensive due to taxes my country has on video games, but it's not quite scalper prices.
I don't know if they ship internationally, but it could be worth checking for people who want a physical copy:
Anyone saying they refuse to respect that girl in the video, that’s exactly what’s wrong with people today. Because what that’s saying is, “My opinion is correct, any opposing view is wrong, therefore I refuse to respect anyone who has a different opinion“
That’s precisely what’s wrong with people today. I don’t care if you agree with her or disagree with her, but until people can learn that their opinion isn’t automatically right just because they think it is, and people learn to respect other differing viewpoints even if they don’t agree with them... things will never improve. And it will continue to result in hostility and lack of respect toward anyone with differing viewpoints. Saying “I disagree with her, and here’s why” is a fantastic response. Saying “I have no respect for her because she has a different opinion, I can’t stand people with different opinions” is a narcissistic response.
Btw the game is still available on Amazon US, which ships globally afaIk. It’s been available every time I’ve looked, and is still up for preorder right now.
@Octane
That was a VC release of a Wii game. If it were a VC release, then yes, it would be. It’s not going to be a VC release though. It’s going to be a port in HD with gyro aiming and all that. I guarantee you it’s not going to be less than $60. Take that to the bank.
Course if anyone has a problem with that they’re more than welcome to go play on the Wii U. I don’t have a problem with that- I think those games are more than worth $60 each if ported in HD with gyro and full hybrid capabilities.
