Were people expecting remasters or something? When I heard about a possible 3D Mario collection, I immediately thought back to the Mario All Stars cartridge I had on my SNES (that was on SNES, right?). Nothing more than literally a collection of the games all on one cartridge. No remastering or adding anything.

I thought 1080p 60fps versions of the games. Not redone character models or anything.

July 20 is a Monday. I thought Nintendo Direct takes play either on a Wednesday or a Thursday?

If it was a collection I was expecting 4 games (64, Sunshine, Galaxy 1 and Galaxy 2)

I hoped for a 3 game collection (Sunshine, Galaxy 1 and Galaxy 2) with a separate release of 64 which was completely rebuilt as they did for Links Awakening.

In whatever form, I expected Sunshine to get some mechanical work.

I don't think we're getting any of the above.

I think its been clear from the beginning that 3D world was going to be some kind of deluxe version, which is fine.

Normally, but the XBox event is later in the week.

@MarioBrickLayer I do wish both galaxies were included. I'd prefer both galaxies than sunshine. But that's just my preference.

Given a choice, so would I. I'd love to play Sunshine for nostalgia, but I still have my gamecube. I don't know why but I didn't get either Galaxy game, despite have a Wii and New Super Mario Bros Wii, so I'm hoping to get chance to play Galaxy 1 and 2 on my switch.

I didn't have a Wii U, so 3D World deluxe is a must buy for me.

Super Mario 3D World is going to get a separate port like the other Wii U games that have been ported to Switch. The sources I posted on comment #31 all talk about remasters for Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy. They say that it could be a collection and even give it the Super Mario All-Stars 2 name or separate releases like The Legend of Zelda remasters on Wii U. Super Mario Galaxy 2 is left behind, mysteriously. Could it be added to the Super Mario Galaxy remaster?

3D World not being in the collection makes sense given how recently it was a new game, especially if the latest rumours about additional content are true and I'd be surprised if many fans had a problem with that?

A 3D collection without Galaxy 2 (if true) just seems really odd.

The latest rumours are that the "remaster" will be extremely light touch, just slightly improved textures and wide screen support, which (if true) is disappointing.

@MarioBrickLayer if it isn't as polished as the nvidia shield port I'd hope Nintendo fans would riot. But Nintendo fans are far too happy just getting whatever Nintendo decides to throw their way. It's like Nintendo is doing them the favour by allowing them to purchase their games at full price.

@MarioBrickLayer Yes, I read that Zippo tweet that you posted, I don't have any idea who he is but I'd be disappointed too because Super Mario 64 needs a remake (the DS version is more expansion than remake). Super Mario Sunshine still looks awesome at higher resolutions but it would benefit from some tweaks here and there. The Galaxy games at higher resolution without motion controls would be great and yes, it's really odd not to include the sequel. Super Mario 64 was Nintendo's first real 3D game, if they're not remaking it I don't know what else deserves to be remade.

@BlueOcean Galaxy 2 isn't on the Nvidia Shield so all the work of converting Wii Remote controls to normal controls hasn't already been done. If the collection's real, Galaxy 2 would probably be $25 DLC for the collection in 2021.

If Zippo is right, then the 3D Mario collection will be pretty bare bones. Not more than what you already can get from standard PC emulation. If it doesn't even include Mario Galaxy 2, I don't think I would pay 60 bucks for this then. And it definitely can't warrant a stand alone Mario Direct. What do you guys think?

I can't see why they'd leave Galaxy 2 out. I mean they're not gonna sell that separately are they? The Galaxy games are the ones that don't need any changes at all. Just render them in 1080p and they're good to go.

I'd probably pay $60 for it either way, but definitely if Galaxy 2 is included. I really don't see why it wouldn't be. It's not gonna cost them anything really is it?

@Grumblevolcano @Dezzy Considering how much work and effort some developers put into their remasters, I hope that Nintendo is able to remake their own iconic games properly. No excuses.

@Grumblevolcano as long as eventually they release galaxy 2 I am fine. But I'd pay $100 for the full collection plus full price for 3D world (maybe my favourite 3D Mario game)

@rallydefault The All Stars Collection wasn’t a port, the games were all remade in the same engine as Super Mario World so they were actually remakes/remasters. But if this rumour of the 3D collection is true then, I don’t see Nintendo doing anything than ROM dumps with a fancy menu to navigate between the games in the collection.

I never expected a collection of three Mario games to be a full remaster to be honest. I'm fine with an HD port of each title.

@Reprise
Even for 60 bucks? Super Mario 64 on Virtual Console was 5 bucks. I don't see how they can charge more than 10 bucks each for standard HD ports?

You know how Nintendo's pricing is. If they actually fully remastered any of these games, they'd be sold individually at full retail price.

The only way we're getting a collection of 3 or 4 games is if each game has had very minimal upgrades.
