@status-204 We were right. The biggest upgrade is the higher resolution, widescreen for Super Mario Sunshine (I love the smaller HUD) and the sprites have probably been upscaled by AI, not re-drawn like @Eel said. The games look better just because they are higher-resolution as I suspected and Super Mario Sunshine is the winner here. It's a collection of lazy ports that run on emulators with only the minimal improvements. Nintendo could and should have done much, much better than this. At the very least, 60fps for all games and widescreen for Super Mario 64.
Well, the fact that they updated Sunshine's textures as well is a huge plus in my bag. I'm hoping we might see patches for things like the missing dithering (that should be... relatively easy? I'd think?), and optimizing the emulators a little further to avoid dropped frames / frame pacing. Especially if they're planning on doing more with these emulators (which I expect they are), it'd be easy and likely to see the emulation be patched with an improved version down the road.
But while that could get Galaxy up to pretty much perfect, it's too bad we probably won't see perfect Sunshine. I wish they could have recompiled the CPU on that one as well, it likely would have given them the bandwidth they needed to hit a 60fps. I disagree with DF on their claim that they just didn't do it because of bugs or something, it looked like the Switch was probably pushing it's boundaries to maintain 1080p30fps as is in that game.
And 64... well... Yeah, no amount of patches will make that what it should have been. Though, it's still very nice, and we might see the audio latency issues resolved at least.
I’m getting my copy tomorrow. I have to work that day tho, so boo-boo to me.
I’ll definitely take it up tomorrow night though. I’m trying to stop playing games at night cause they say it hurst your brain, but I think I can make an exception JUST this once
I honestly don’t know what to play first. I haven’t played 64 in a while, I’m curious as to what Sunshine will play like, and Galaxy is my all time favorite. So many great games to choose from!
@WoomyNNYes Best Buy. I actually thought of how you mentioned you normally do Best Buy when it arrived. I may switch to them for my gaming needs. It was already same day delivery with no membership, and then I got it a day early. That has never happened to me in all the years I've had amazon prime.

Give me a heads-up if you're going to send a request please.
Is it just me or are the snow effects in 64 uglier than in the original? They now have this clear black edge to them. Like it was a vector image that got recompiled as a JPEG or something.
@link3710 I agree, they should have recompiled the code for Super Mario Sunshine as well. We know that Wii is based on GameCube's architecture so if they can do it for Super Mario Galaxy, they can do it for Super Mario Sunshine. 60fps would be lovely.
It's likely that we will see more N64, GameCube and Wii ports, Nintendo's European team produced the NES and SNES Classic emulators and they have reportedly produced these emulated ports.
@CTmatic Pretty sure the game will be playable this coming midnight at your time zone. I've preordered games from the eShop before and I started playing a few minutes after midnight (my time). Should be the same case for you.

AKA MarioVillager92. Ask if you want to be Switch friends with me, but I want to get to know you first. Thanks! ❤️
Gotcha, thanks. I preordered the physical for tomorrow to. I was talking to a few other people on here last week who are doing the same as me and getting the digital to for “insurance” if anything went wrong with the cartridge even though the odds are like one in a billion. Haha.
Mario 64 is my all time childhood game so the fact copies are gone forever come March next year we want that security. @MarioLover92
