I’ve just had my UK pre-order cancelled today as they cant fulfil the stock. This is annoying.

@Dezzy Mm, I was hoping to get the manufacturer's name so i know exactly what to look for. The offerings on Amazon or eBay US look suspect haha. Thanks for the link.

I'll prolly get those transparent shells for my current red Joy-Cons later down the road. They really do look fantastic.

@1UP_MARIO Base which I went to as it was the cheapest in the UK. The email they sent me doesn't sound promising for people in general;

"We have just been notified of our allocation of Super Mario 3D All-stars (Nintendo Switch) and it is woefully short. This is very disappointing and it is with great regret that we have to inform you that we will be unable to fulfil you order on the day of release. Further, as Nintendo and their UK distributers are unable to give us any reassurance that more stock will become available after release, we have taken the regrettable decision to cancel all orders.

You have not been charged for your order.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this action has caused you and want to thank you for choosing base.com"

As much as I want a physical copy I decided I am just going to get it digitally. I don't have the energy not time to deal with hunting one down or the aggervating of having my preorder cancelled.

@Tasuki my thought process as well. If I got it physical I might be able to sell it later on, but that’s not worth the hassle of trying to find the goddamn game in the first place. Digital is just easier. (And I’m kinda lazy...)

@jump That's annoying but at the same time it's a very honest email that also reveals Nintendo's stance. I was sure that shops would get more stock after launch and that only pre-orders are so limited but now I'm starting to think that the game might not be available after the 18th either.

@jump Just got the same email from Base. Really frustrating, especially as Simply Games have put their pre-order price up £5!

I'm getting it digital just because I want to have it on my OG and Lite at any time. I wouldn't sell it, so there's no point in physical for me.

Weird that Nintendo would sabotage their holiday sales potential like that. Maybe they'll announce the rumoured Switch revision in a big October general Direct then if they have no intention of strong holiday sales.

A lot of the manufacturers for those sorts of things are random unheard of companies though. I'd just go based on their feeback rating. It is just a piece of plastic. It's quite hard for them to mess it up.

Insane as some may find my thought pattern, I've decided to wait at least a couple of months before picking this up. Interesting budget for the next while aside, I still can't believe that there won't be more print runs after the initial release "rush" in about a week that won't resurface within the next six months. Even if I can't find it physical, it won't kill me to get it digitally if things do get down to the wire.

@MarioLover92 Oh sure, more content is (usually) great, but playing as Yoshi in that manner was just plain awkward for me. I felt that the best experience would be that closest to the original, so I picked up the VC version at one point and played it. Definitely an excellent 3D platformer, even if time hasn't been the most kind in some aspects.

@Octane The absence of punching wouldn't bother me - that was a novelty for me a few years ago as most Mario games technically don't have a punch mechanic - but the lack of a long jump will take some getting used to.

@Tyranexx I'm trying to get the rest of the moons in Super Mario Odyssey (before Super Mario 3D All-Stars arrives) as... who was it? Who is the person on this site that got them all? 🤣 I don't promise anything, some of the moons are very annoying to get (of course, I'm using a guide) and controls are inaccurate unlike Super Mario Sunshine's (that's why I don't get those complaints about Sunshine) because they combine normal controls with motion controls as a gimmick for stupid things such as jumping higher or going faster when transformed. I really don't want to sound so harsh about Super Mario Odyssey every time I talk about it but most of the moons are not even fun to get 😅.

@Tyranexx Yep - I think it has aged well overall. Still an excellent game today. I'm purposely waiting for 3D All-Stars to arrive in the mail for when I want to revisit it, Sunshine, and Galaxy. lol

Hopefully they'll make more physical copies by then, but who knows if they will. I definitely agree that getting it digitally is the best option for if you can't find one.
