This wasn't a game for me, but it might fit what OP is interested in - Gone Home. It's very short, so bear that in mind when deciding whether to wait for a sale or not.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

@MorganWhoop as far as i know, the only differences would be that the 3ds has touch screen control (which presumably the switch also has in handheld mode). Sound and visuals will probably have a small bump on the switch as well. No differences in game content. Either way you choose you cant go wrong though, they're great games.

Give me a heads-up if you're going to send a request please.

@MorganWhoop Ace Attorney is amazing so I highly recommend giving it a go. 3DS versions are completely fine and in a way might be the ideal way to play as then you can play all six main series games so far on one system rather than just the first three.

@1ofUs when [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] get to [REDACTED]? And Cerberus is [REDACTED]? So cute. So good.

Now that Ghost Trick and Paper Mario TTYD are on the Switch, I have no purpose in life... EXCEPT TO ASK FOR FANTASY LIFE ON THE SWITCH!!! YEAHHHH BOIIII

AI: The Somnium files has some cringey moments but if you can get past that it would be one to try for sure. Almost entirely a narrative experience, fully voice acted, and has some really emotional paths (like Mayumi's story).
I also agree with what others have said with Xenoblade Chronicles 2, it has a lot of lighthearted moments but the story can get pretty emotional at certain points, especially near the end of Torna.

I've just finished Ys VIII, and I enjoyed it's storytelling and pacing more than Xenoblade 2. So I'd recommend that if you've only got time for 1 RPG.

The Way is pretty good. Not a ton of narative, but lots of visual storytelling the gives off a melancholy atmosphere. The premis is you play a man seaching different planets for a temple that suposedly could bring your wife back from the dead. Pixel art adventure game that I enjoyed more than I was expecting.

@Reyren I mainly didn't suggest XCDE since it's a remake of an older game. If you've never played the Xenoblade games before, no reason not to start with XCDE.

Oh, and while they're also on PS4, I'd highly recommend Valkyria Chronicles and Valkyria Chronicles 4. Both excellent games.

From the games mentioned Night in the Woods is the most interesting in my opinion, with Ace Attorney as an honorable mention.
To be honest I am not a big fan of XC2's narrative. The Torna prequel is better but spoils the main game. Since you have the Lite both play very poorly.
Bury me, my love is an option if you are semi familiar with Europe's migration issues, otherwise it makes no sense.

@Reyren I will add my voice to those recommending Horace. Owlboy has a fair narrative for a platformer, also. Then there are fairly non-verbal games that tell a tale like Gris, Blasphemous, and others, but I'm wondering if you prefer narrative-heavy or narrative-focused games. (These days I'm into games that really make you work to unravel the story, like Enter the Gungeon or Hyper Light Drifter.) I mean, given that they were released in the '90s, even the games in the Mana Collection or Romancing Saga series do their best, but that's probably not what you mean.

Mind you, the most emotional, Switch-focused narratives one could possibly experience occur in the comment sections before and after a "mini-Direct" is announced...

@Reyren Think you’ve probably got enough recommendations now, but... Call of the Sea is a neat puzzle adventure (think Myst but far less opaque) with a strong, slightly Lovecraftian story. Worth checking out, at least.

(And I love Xenoblade Chronicles 2 to pieces, but I wouldn’t recommend it for its story. Unless you’re really into mediocre shonen manga)

I’ll second Valkyrie Chronicles and Valkyrie Chronicles 4!

Also, I don’t see that anyone mentioned Banner Saga Series, which I’d recommend.

Hey buddy my recommendations are super meat boy, sims 3 castaways, and just dance. Those are my personal favorites

Not narrative focused, but emotional for sure: Ori and the Blind Forest. My whole family was crying after the opening sequence.

I'll second (or third!) Valkyria Chronicles 1 and 4 - both excellent games, but tbh I like them more for their gameplay than their narrative.

Absolutely recommend Xenoblade as well. I reckon Xenoblade 2 has the better gameplay, but Xenoblade DE has the better story. But overall they're about as good as each other.

At least 2'8".

Thank you all soo much for the suggestions! I’ve got a good list to pick from now!
@gcunit played it, it’s great! Never played their second game Tacoma though

I played Tacoma, and had a great time with it. Yes it's a walking simulator where you mostly explore and listen, also it's not that long - but that's just how I like it.

Another narrative driven game I liked would be Neo Cab, but that is more indie and niche.

@Reyren If you enjoyed Coffee Talk then I'd recommend looking into VA-11 HALL-A if you haven't already.
