I started playing this last night and from the first minute it gave me a sense of dread that I'm not sure I've ever felt in a video game before. My skin was tingling, knowing something awful was going to happen and when it did, man did I not expect it. It first messes with your head, making you question yourself, draws you in and then bang, gives you the fright of your life. There's not much to the gameplay so far, it's really just exploring, picking up items and reading notes that evolve the story and but it pulls it all off so well. The graphics are really great too.

I'm usually OK with horror stuff but this had me actually fearing to go where I knew I needed to. An amazing albeit very chilling experience that I can't recommend highly enough. Can't wait to go back to the mansion tonight.

How long do you think the game will last? I have been reluctant to buy it as I have heard it only lasts for around 4 hours?

@ColePhelps1942 The NL review says around 5 hours with another couple for the included DLC. I've really been taking my time with it so I'd expect it to take me an hour or 2 longer. For me that's plenty for the kind of game it is and it's such a unique experience that it's definitely worth the price of admission. I'm going to play some more just now and expect to finish it by tomorrow. I'll give an update on how it goes.

@ColePhelps1942 Well I finished the game the other night and I'd say it took me just under 6 hours. I've still got the DLC to go as well that I think lasts around 2 hours. I want to play through the main game again as well though as the experience changes depending on which doors you go through. Something I noticed, after saving the game and going through a door I had to turn it off to do something, when I put it back on and went through the same door what awaited me was different from before, and much worse than previously, gave me the fright of my life. So it seems even go the exact same route as I went will be a different experience for everyone.

I wish there were more comments here, this was one of the most incredible and unique gaming experiences I've had in a long time. Amazing stuff!

I tweeted the devs, Bloober Team to thank them for this superb port and asked if they will bring Observer next, which is supposed to be another amazing game. They said "I have nothing to announce at this time " , I'll take that as a maybe then.

Just to add, I'd also highly recommend Detention. That is one unique and disturbing experience any horror fan does not want to miss.

@OorWullie This is a class comment - thank you for letting me know. I think you’ve convinced me to take the plunge. 8 hours including DLC is respectable and the bonus that it has replay value is excellent news.

I’ve looked into Detention but wasn’t sure. Will check it out again.

Any other recommendations? I’m currently sinking a dangerous number of hours into Radiation Island - it really hasn’t got the credit it deserves!
