@Heavyarms55 Thanks for your clear points, I truely appreciate it. This kind of info is exactly why I reached out and opened this thread haha.

You make valid points and yet I'm curious if the lan adapter will solve my issue.
I agree with the things you pointed out internet wise and internet is the most important element here. NOT the nintendo online service etc. That comes after all the solveable things. Yet youre the first one to say that nintendo online is without issues. I disagree there because i can easily play online on the pc without lag. Nintendo online is not the best, but that doesnt mean its crap.

Im not a kid or boomer, i know the importance of good internet, and I do choose my own package. I know my stuff.

As you said, lan is always better either way. So fingers crossed itll solve my issues!

@Cissero It's like I said before, people don't usually go out of their way to say they don't have issues. I just personally get annoyed after seeing people say there is a problem when there isn't or that the problem is X when it's really Y or Z. (A trait of mine I try to rein in, and fail often...) The problem doesn't lie with Nintendo's service - that doesn't mean there aren't people having problems. Even if your connection is perfect, if you're playing Smash or Splatoon 2 against people with trash connections, there's still gonna be problems. And since the Switch is a hybrid, there's a sizable number of people playing too far from their routers, on cheap mobile hotspots or public wifi with 250 other devices on the same set up, or in hotels, etc...

Compare that to dedicated home consoles or PCs where the vast majority are set up either with a physical LAN connection straight to their own set ups.

And I do agreed Nintendo's service isn't the best. It's 20 dollars a year for a 300 dollar device the size of a thick tablet. No reasonable person would expect it to work like a dedicated gaming PC that costs 5 times the price or is twenty times the size. But it works fine when everyone in a match is on a good connection.

I do sincerely hope your issue is resolved. Because I know it can be because the issue just doesn't exist for myself or the majority of my friends who own Switches. Just that one guy with the crappy satellite internet - but he's one of the unlucky ones in a rural area, where it's that, or dial up. (just remembering dial up gives me the creeps...)

Also I hope you didn't take my previous comment to imply that you were a kid or a boomer, that's not what I meant and I am very sorry if it sounded that way.

@Heavyarms55 hahaha no worries, I didn't feel offended or attacked.

God... dial up, so glad thats a thing of the past!

I think we're very much on the same page about this topic. I do indeed hope the LAN adapter will make it less frustrating and create better matches more regularly either way

My router was recently replaced but it is one of the cheaper models.

Like I said Buy Cheap Get Cheap. One needs to do their homework if they want a good WiFi Router and be willing to Spend $$$ for it.

I assume most gamers who spend alot of time online would likely only use WiFi as a last resort unless their connection is super reliable.

Incorrect, alot of misleading myths here and most would tell you this. Your WiFi is only good as your Router and then your connection is only reliable as your data plan to your ISP is. So not sure where you getting the WiFi disconnect here.

I've tested it today, and I must say it really helped. The lan connection solved my issues and suddenly I hardly ever encounter poorly connected people on smash online anymore. If anyone has a good internet bundle, but encounters lag: I can recommend going LAN!

@New_Guest haha thanks for the reply. I 100% match your comment tho. The initial lag is now taken away, now it just depends on my and my opponents internet speed instead of some weird always existent lag.

Not really this still exists in of all Places USA. So not everyone has equal access going forward. At my location we got Fiber/DSL to our home and once they setup Fiber we switched(pun) over and never looked back. It did cost far more then DSL but Fiber one can get up to 1gb speeds mine is only 70gb speeds. But it has worked well so far. Sometimes my router goes on the fritz in long long time and just a simple power cycle fixes the connections. I also update the latest firmware as well.
