@Razer Industry is thriving mate. Everyone is doing great. I think Nintendo have a long term plan but seriously, no one should be worried about another great game released.
Switch was the best selling console of 2018 so they hardily lost. They have Pokemon Lets Go Eevee/Pikachu, pokemon always sells well so that's bound to be in the top 10 of the year along with smash.
I think Nintendo just wanted this year to port all the Wii U titles people missed otherwise they would get overshadowed with new games. Nintendo want all their games to sell well so I can understand why they held back a year. 2019 should be great for new titles.
Mkay. Nintendo's own software is selling. Nintendo's IPs are on Nintendo platforms, which are both selling despite what exists on other platforms. I don't think anyone uninterested in RDR2 are very concerned about how it impacts Smash. Just like sales of GTAV don't equate to lost sales of Zelda or some other franchise.
But whatevs. Competition. Console wars and "win/lose 20XX" just marginalize the point of enjoying entertainment. Play what you enjoy, enjoy what you play.

@GrailUK I'm not worried about other games being released on other systems and not mine, i dont suffer from that hubris.
But what i do have an issue with is the ONLY game that Nintendo are relying on is quite frankly a poor excuse for a mascot fighting game.
I've tried to get hyped but its Smash... The games going to be a carbon copy of the last game but with a few extra fighters and maps and some new glossy graphics.
I want to be hyped but i feel like if i play Smash on my 3DS instead, i probably won't be missing too much.
This is my opinion obviously but Nintendo haven't given me a single reason to be excited about the holidays.
Fortunately Blizzard and a few others are giving me reasons but Nintendo themselves have disappointed me...
To me with or without Smash, Nintendo lose 2018, purely for lack of any real effort.
Im gonna remain optimistic for 2019 but if things don't improve then I'll be moving on to other devices. And i can only afford to maintain one device.
I mean, you're not wrong in the sense that having Red Dead Redemption 2 is inherently a plus for any platform that has it.
You're wrong in that no one game is a deciding factor for any console. Xbox One is gonna have it, which while absolutely a plus for it, is not going to suddenly make Xbox One a must-own console.
also Smash Bros is one of the three biggest fighting game franchises of all time (along with Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat) so downplaying its relevance is just insultingly dumb, especially if the "sells better on Switch" thing happens like it always does
@Razer That's fair enough. If the Switch doesn't float your boat, then it doesn't make sense to hold on to it hoping for games, when you could be playing other stuff.
I never drive faster than I can see. Besides, it's all in the reflexes.
Switch was the best selling console of 2018 so they hardily lost.
In Japan or globally? Because it certainly didn't outsell PS4 globally. But this has nothing to do with sales...
What games released in 2018 would you consider worth buying a Switch for? It's not game sales that bother me...
Nintendo have released a bunch of rubbish this year so far... That Tennis game is terrible, Mario Party is a total joke and i didn't enjoy Pokemon Go so i won't be getting Let Go either...
The only game that i am trying to be excited for is Smash and it just can't kindle any fires for me... The excitement isn't coming no matter how hard i try and pretend it is.
@Peach64@HobbitGamer its not sales that bother me... Im sure Nintendo will continue to sell games... Its thw fact that not a single game in 2018 is a game i would "Play to enjoy" or "Enjoy to play" except maybe Octopath traveller to some extent (good game but not worth a full AAA pricetag that it has attached to it)
@kkslider5552000 calling my opinion about a game dumb is fhijytsxvkut bro... My opinions are subjective. Nobody is down playing anything, i am sure lots of people will lap the game up but it isn't my type of fighting game. no matter how hard i try to pretend... I can't seem to muster a single damn about it.
I even put it below wrestling games in all honesty but its MY opinion... And to be honest Soul Calibur is better than Street Fighter (these days) and Mortal Kombat.
@kkslider5552000 Love that Bender clip
Agree, though, Smash's success isn't due to just mascots punching. Just ask Sony how that's working for them. I've got two friends buying it this year (one getting a Switch for it) because I brought over my WiiU on game night last week. Does it mean Nintendo is the best? No, it just offers something that's unique.
I personally don't care for RDR2, but I know it's appealing. I happened to play the mess out of Revolver and Redemption 1, so I'm just meh about it now. I'm not of the opinion that a platform is a winner or loser based solely on its presence, though.

Heres a novel ideal instead of crying about what Nintendo should do and what they should get get the system that is. It's obviously that the Switch isn't doing it for you so get a PS4 or Xbox One if you want to play RDR2 and stop worrying about Nintendo.

Best to buy what pleases you. Id recommend both if you can. I gave my PlayStation 4 last year to my nephew as I just couldn’t keep up with the games on all consoles and stopped buying games. It was really a street fighter 5 machine. You should just buy the system you like and put yourself first
We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.
I don’t know man, i feel like 2018 was/is a great year for switch and i am not even a smash bros fan. Even though there is no spider man or god of war we still got some interesting titles. Like octopath for example, maybe it wasn’t as big as spider but i still consider it a great exclusive, maybe even a system seller for some rpg fans.
Not really new but we also got bunch of ports which i think is worth mentioning considering amount of people that didn’t own wii u.(like myself) I wanted to play Bayonetta 2 for a long time and the game being ported to switch was one of the reasons i finally decided to buy the console earlier this year.
Lets go pokemon is pretty big as well, i don’t care about it myself but i can’t deny that it will probably be one of the best selling games on switch this year.
There are also some exclusives from this year like kirby, xenoblade dlc, mario tennis or mario party, it’s not like nintendo didn’t release anything new this year. Maybe you didn’t like them but it doesn’t mean those are trash games. Also what did you expect nintendo to do? Release another zelda to fight rdr2 a year after the last one? Or try to get rockstar to release rdr2 on switch?
My advice for you is to just get a console that has the games you want to play. You really don’t have to give switch another year to see what you are going to do. We already know about many games being released in 2019, do any of them make you interested? If yes, why do you complain in the first place? If not i don’t see a reason to keep a console just to be disappointed next year. It is not a bad thing to like games that are being released on ps4/xbox, just switch the system if you like them more.
I'm a poser and want to be added to your ignore list.
I am a moron and do not know how to engage in constructive discussions.
@Mountain_Man you know lately I've been reading some of your obnoxious posts and thinking to myself... This guy use to actually be cool once... I guess cool people can turn into morons sometimes... Oh well.
Example of constructive debate provided by @Kaile in case you need an example.
Yeah ignore me please because i will certainly be doing it to you if i come back in an hour and i can still see your butt ugly opinions around here.
