Just remember to buy the replacement kit. Because you gonna need a special screwdriver. Usually they replace the joystick at the repair shop. I sended them to repair multiple times. But I got so tired of that. Even though I got 2 pairs of controllers🙄 Nintendo really have a problem with these joystick 🤫 not original part actually seems to work better. My experience so far at leat. All the best guys

Got my Joy Cons back from Nintendo. About a week turnaround. Not bad. The note in the box says, "Diagnosis and replacement of all defective, worn, or marginal components was performed, including extended testing for reliability per the manufacturer's specifications," but as far as I can tell, the repair company said, "Screw it, just give him a brand new pair." These things look and feel like they're fresh out of the box.

I shipped three Joy-Con out last week, having the same problem you are all having, drift. I'm hoping to have my Switch in tip-top shape for Animal Crossing. I'll let you know what happens!

@Mountain_Man - Nice, I’ve seen this same scenario mentioned a few times, and I’m starting to wonder if it’s more cost effective for them to just replace the old joy con with new. I’m curious if you sent them in due to drift? It reads as if you sent multiple joy con, do you have several pair and sent multiple left joy con, or did you send both out of a set? I’m going to start a repair ticket this week, so I appreciate your information.

I have two pair, the original red and blue that came with my system, and a second set of red and blue. I sent in the two red ones (left and right) because of really bad drifting issues. The two blue seem to be working okay for the moment, but I'm setting up a repair order for them, too, because I've had trouble with them drifting in the past that I've managed to keep under control with contact cleaner, and I would like them to be properly repaired.

@Mountain_Man - Yep, I was able to use canned air as a temporary fix for about a year, but it stopped working this winter. Since then, the left has progressed to unusable. It’s only in my left con. I have a new set arriving today, and I’ll send my original set in this week. I was considering sending in only the problem joy con, but I’ll definitely send the set in now. Thanks again.

Since it's now a free service, there's really no reason not to.

I sent in my second pair of Joy-Cons for servicing, and they were straight up lost by UPS. I put the package in a UPS dropbox near my house that I've used several times befores, but there is no record of it ever being picked up. UPS told me that since I didn't initiate the shipment that I would have to call Nintendo and have them request an investigation from UPS, so I did. About an hour later, I got an email from Nintendo asking me to call back, and they told me that because there's no record of the package even being picked up that there's really nothing for UPS to investigate, so they offered to send me two brand new Joy-Cons. I turned them down and said there's no excuse for this kind of incompetence, and I want my original Joy-Cons found.

Just kidding! Of course I readily accepted the offer, so my new Joy-Cons should be here in a few days. Talk about great customer service!

I think you're talking about the widespread left joy-con

The issue is NOT widespread at all. It's just the vocal minority being vocal.
It's still a valid issue that needs to be properly dealt with.

Just saying this because I want to bust the misinformation myth you said of this being a widespread issue which is totally incorrect.

So I do not think it is a wide spread issue of any sort.

We don't need to think on this, we know based on the (lack of) evidence proving this is a widespread issue. It's not that widespread.

Let's put it this way: Nintendo would not start a free, out-of-warranty repair service for defective Joy-Cons if the problem was not widespread. They would handle it quietly on a case-by-case basis instead.

Some of the videos on youtube offering advice on how to fix it have over a million views. I think it's quite widespread.

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

And now for the plot twist: According to the tracking information, UPS did find my package and it's on its way to Nintendo, but I also got a notice from Nintendo that my replacement order has shipped. So now I'm wondering if Nintendo will complete the repair and send those back to me as well?
