Topic: Is this charger safe?

After the whole bricking incident, I want to be safe and get a charger for my switch. I was previously using the chord and wall adapter that came with my S8, but was unsure if it would be safe so I ordered this wall adapter:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B06Y427WT7/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=U...

And these chords, though I know for sure they are fine:

So is the wall charger I ordered fine? And would my S8 charger still be fine?

It's not how fast you can do something, it's how well you can do something fast

looks like its more money than the official Switch AC adapter, any particular reaon you want 3rd party?

Anker is a good company so its probably a quality charger

I went with this one because the official one has the chord always attached and I will be taking this around with me so I needed something easier to carry. Also, I may be using this with other devices and there were problems with the official AC adapter with charging devices other than the Switch, so I don't want to take a chance.

In theory any regular charger should be safe. If you only plan to charge the system.

No playing while charging, trying to use it with a dock, or anything like that. Even lower power chargers will eventually charge the switch.

Yosheel is right. The big issue currently is with docks, not chargers.

What issue with the NS Dock are you talking about?

Anker makes quality stuff compared to a lot of the junk on Amazon. Have been using their products for a while on phones, tablets and the Switch. I don't think you'll have an issue

@SwitchForce third party docks can completely brick your switch because they don't properly manage energy.

The switch becomes more demanding and power hungry when you dock it.

@Yosheel
"No playing while charging"

@Jordino When in doubt, always go with the first party official product.

So are Anker batteries ok to play and charge still? I have the 20100 Powercore +

@Yosheel there is nothing wrong with charging while playing, not sure she you got that from.

Not every charger, cable, or battery can give the switch enough energy to actually charge while playing, so it's entirely possible to run out of battery while you play and charge.

So if you're not sure if your charging option will be able to provide enough power, then just stop playing for a bit. Use it as your recommended break, and it will charge.
