My current Switch Lite came from Hong Kong, it works identically to the American one I had before.

@Eagly Yeah, I'm pretty sure physical Switch games are also region free since I have a few PAL region ones that work on my American Switch.

To be fair I haven't tried any Asian cartridges so it might not be fully region free physically.

As far as I'm aware only Switches sold in mainland China are region locked (and may have Tencent branding, since they're who distributes it in the country), while Switches sold in Taiwan & Hong Kong (a sovereign nation that separated from the mainland after a 20th century civil war & a Chinese city with special economic status as it used to be under British colonial rule, respectively) should be region free just like anywhere else in the world.

Mainland China is starting to curtail Hong Kong's freedom (and is threatening to invade Taiwan), but I don't know how much effect that's had on video game consoles.

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

To my knowledge the only Chinese nintendo switch games that are region locked are supposedly nintendo's first party titles. I don't import nintendo's first party titles only because I can buy them locally in America. I only import the nintendo switch games that have zero to little chance of getting an American release~ πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘ If you want to go old school the DS Lite, Original GameBoy, GameBoy Color, GameBoy Advance, & GameBoy Advance SP are all region free. I have Japanese game boy color games along with American game boy games in general. As for DS. The DS games are region free. The 3DS & Nintendo DSi are region locked. The 3DS is backwards compatible & can play DS games from any region but when it comes to 3DS games it has to be the same region as to what ever region the 3DS is. As for the Nintendo DSi it will only play authentic DS games. I accidentally got a fake DS game from overseas ironically it worked on my ds lite fine but refused to play on my dsi. When I further really started to dig deeper I figured out it was a fake ds game I accidentally bought the instruction booklet gave it away taking images from other ds games I already had. It was My Little Baby DS. I ended up later buying an actual authentic copy of the game from some one in the UK. As for the 3DS if you want to play any 3DS games in Japanese or European 3DS games you'll have to import a Japanese or European 3ds. I imported an Australian 2ds for Teddy Together 3DS along with other European 3ds games some from the UK other's from Germany, Australia. It's ashame nintendo had to region lock the 3DS. Personally I think nintendo lost more money in revenue when it comes to selling games & consoles because not everyone wants to own multiple handhelds / consoles... πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ Sorry to be a little long winded~ πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ€£βœŒοΈ Been a girl gamer since I was 2 in 1989~ 😎πŸ”₯πŸ‘ The original NES was my first Gaming console with the game Duck Hunt with the orange guns~ πŸ”«πŸ”«

Uhh~ I get the majority of my import games off ebay. Just got to be careful & make sure the seller is on the up & up with checking out there rating & feedback. I sometimes get games off amazon as well. If you want cheap nintendo switch games check out Walmart's video game aisle. They usually have a section where they have select nintendo switch games around $20. Also Half Price Books store is a good place to get second hand nintendo switch games & also older games in general. Managed to pick up a few PS2, Wii, DS, & GameBoy games there~ 🀣✌️

Yeah I used to buy from Gamestop for a good while but not a fan of them over the years with there attitude towards there customers. I truly miss Electronics Boutique they genuinely cared about there customers & what they were looking for. In Gamestop some of the employees just have a very cold expression to them to where they seem like they just don't care about there customers. I've purposely given my money to other stores because of the experience I've had with gamestop in the past years. Best Buy is not bad either~ πŸ€·β€β™€οΈβœŒοΈ
