I've watched a couple of videos about problems the Nintendo Switch has, but most of them where published around launch of the Nintendo Switch. I've heard that most of the issues have been resolved but does the dock still scratch the Switch?
It was never a problem with me since I've been careful with how I slid it into the dock.
And I eventually got a glass screen protector so it's now completely a non-issue.
@OliBoi I've had mine since launch with two kids sharing the system every day, taking it out several times a day and never a scratch. I think you have to really try hard to scratch it under normal use. Of course, there might have been a few warped docks out there, but overall I'd call this a non-problem.

Remind yourself that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer.
I'm gonna go with others here and say it was probably never even an issue to begin with. I'm quite sloppy putting the Switch back myself and I've never had any issues... In fact I don't think I could scratch the screen that way if I tried.
Of course it is. Just like dropping your smartphone is still a problem. Or sitting on your glasses is still problem. Or rear ending someone while driving. Things break when you abuse them or just simply make a mistake.
But that's all this issue ever was. Not fake news, just people abusing their new toy and looking to put the blame on Nintendo.

Well... mine too.
But thanks to my Temper glass screen guard attached on my Switch screen.
The line of scratches are very thin and smooth, not really serious damage.
I actually noticed yesterday my Switch is scratched pretty bad on the back side by the left joyconn! I was SHOCKED because I barely take it out from dock! It’s scratched ond the other side also where that joke of stand is but not that much. Back plastic is garbage. Thankfully screen is not scratched YET. I Like the Switch concept but docking that thing should have been better designed! Also, I get out of the town for holidays and took Switch first time out of my house and impressions are.. I like more 3DS for portability. It’s so much easier to carry around. I was packing Switch with dock in my bag like I was packing eggs ffs. Yea, it’s portable if you don’t mind scratches and taking care of it like a one week old baby.
I play hell of my Switch but for me it’s 100% home console and dock is one big BS!
Yea, I’m pissed because scratches. And it’s Splatoon 2 bundle one.
You might as well get a screen protector just in case, since some people have scratched their screens. The plastic ones only cost a couple of dollars, and the tempered glass ones are only a few dollars more expensive than that.
@CroRock So...do you hold the console parallel to the dock, directly over the tray area and lower the console in slowly?
Youll find when docked there is enough space either side of the console when docked for it to move back and forth slightly. At no point does the dock come into contact with the front or back of the system.
Therefore, I ask you: what is actually scratching the console? The dock through general use, where the console is lowered in at the very generous angle directly down into the dock, or your own human error?

It’s not about money.. I never used screen protectors on my iPhones or any other devices. It’s just looks horrible with it imo. I take care of my things and that’s why I’m so pissed about those scratches. If I drop my phone or Switch or if I’m careless handling them that’s on me, but scratches on the back of my Switch is 100% Nintendos fault! Is it dock or bad material on the back, I don’t know but this is not acceptable. Buying screen protectors because bad design is not acceptable imo. Like I said.. it’s barely leaving a dock. Bad, BAD design and cheap materials
@YummyHappyPills I don’t know.. I use it normal and gently putting in dock every time. Maybe it’s getting joycons on Switch while docked.. really don’t know. I’m going out now but will take photos later and try to post them here
I don't know what you did, but I bring my Switch around and it doesn't have scratches at all! Like heck, what did happen to it... I mean if it's not taken out of the dock, shouldn't that mean it's not even the dock's fault? Might mean there's external problem here...
I mean it's very easy to say "hey this dock is causing this problem", but think of it carefully, like as a mystery to be solved. Is it really the dock? What if it's something else? maybe rethink of the possible thing that can happen.
I'm not saying it's impossible, just that it might be too easy to say it's the dock's fault when it's barely out.
@CroRock Seriously. Are you docking it at an angle? Are you not lowering it straight down from above? Thats all I can think of because the dock as it is when used as intended and shown in all ads....does NOT come into contact with the console like that.
Thats...yeah it cant be scratched. You can knock it, yeah, but not scratch it.
Now if you want a real bad design, get the Nyko metal kickstand. THAT scratches the system.

@darkfenrir lol no.. my dog scratched it lol. Ofc it’s dock. If you don’t have scratches it doesn’t mean noone else could have them without their fault. Other have different issues with Switches and it’s not their fault it won’t turn on or something like that. Like I said I’m very gentle with it and when I post pictures, then you can tell is it me or just lazy design
And @YummyHappyPills my Switch is definitely in contact with dock when docked. I’ll picture that too.
Okay then, give me a tag when you upload the pic. I'm just saying it might be better to think it's not the dock first since if it is, it should scratch from the start isn't it (' w ' ) (and get worse the more you pull it out and dock in
