Show of hands, who actually uses gyro in Splatoon 3? I'm trying to get into it but my precision aiming still isn't optimal after 3 days of practice. I have been using analog since Splatoon 1 so maybe it needs more time? The reason I also ask is because it seems most people are using analog, but maybe I'm wrong about that.
I plan on getting into gyro at some point but for right now, when I'm just trying to enjoy a brand new entry in one of my favourite series, I'll stick with what I'm comfortable with in analog
There have been times I've greatly missed gyro aiming though, no getting around it (damn you Luna Blaster!) so I'll probably watch a few tutorials and adjust my sensitivity to get into it.
Currently MIA for exams; see you all in a bit! o7

I'd never play Splatoon without gyro. Like, ever. It's why Splatoon 3 is the only game I play with the normal joycons instead of the Split Pad Pro in handheld mode.
And yes, it stands to reason that if you've opted for a specific control method since 2015 or thereabouts, it might take more than three days to become comfortable with another.
I've always used gyro, it's by far the most convenient way of aiming with a controller. I'm glad it's becoming commonplace for this kind of game on Switch, though Splatoon is still the best example of it in my experience (I've been playing Overwatch 2 and the gyro in that game feels a bit finicky to me, I keep having to adjust the settings to try and get it to feel right, whereas Splatoon's default gyro settings are perfect imo).
Gyro/motion aim is where it's at! It's the most advantageous play style. The main thing I had to get use to was, resting my hands & controller on my legs more when walking in the town square. Been using motion aim since Splatoon 2.
If you've really tried hard to get used to gyro aim, and can't, well, then it is what it is. Everyone is wired differently. So, no one thing works for everyone all the time.
Yeah you might be right about it taking a bit longer to get used to. I guess I’m a bit impatient, but I will definitely give it some more time as it does sound like the superior playstyle! @Ralizah
Nope, I’m a splash-o-matic boy! And as soon as I have it max freshness I wanna try some other weapons. Very curious to the katana stamper @SoManyHaveDied
Yeah thats another thing for me, how to hold the controller as I’m used to just lay back on the couch this seems an issue with gyro, maybe I’m just too lazy But I will stick to gyro for now and see where it gets me. Too often analog just cant keep up with the frantic action. I will persist! @WoomyNNYes
That’s exactly what I was doing, but too often I eat ink because I lack precision. For now I’m sticking with gyro, give it a good chance. This tutorial I found might help you when you're ready yourself https://youtu.be/eH3n1-YQvWo@Fizza

@SoapMonki I'll agree, I can't use gyro while laying back/relaxing in a chair, either. Surprisingly, that does feel disorienting to me, or feels like trying to play left handed (or with your opposite hand).
@SoapMonki I've used gyro since splatoon 1 and I tried analog and couldnt do It. It could just be your used to analog. I'm probably the only person that does this but I have a tenancy to crank sebsativity to Its max. It works for me so maybe that'll help (probably not)
@ai_2199 I was actually getting pretty good at it after 5 days, my aim was considerably better. But I had to go back to analog sadly as my hands started hurting like arthritis. Guess I'm getting old.. -_-
