I went into my local GAME store today and left rather confused.

Although my local GAME have a midnight launch for FIFA,call of duty, GTA. Every single time a new one is released, there not having one for the switch.

Let me get this straight this isn't a single game. Dropping on the 3rd of march we have

Zelda breath of the wild (midnight launch worthy in its own right)
Snipperclips
Bomberman R
1 2 Switch
THE SWITCH (WTF no midnight opening for a new console)

When I asked the manager if they are opening at midnight he said "Definitely not"

Nintendo isnt generic rubbish like Fifa and COD. I remember going to the 3DS midnight launch at my local GAME, i couldnt go until 10pm and thought i would be way back in the queue. When i got there i was like 5th in the queue.

I don't mind waiting until 8am but we had the entire night planned

I guess it depends on how many pre orders they have as to whether it's worth their while opening.

As the link provided by someone above proves plenty of game stores are doing a midnight launch. My local store (St Helens) is on the list

Well to be fair it is in a shopping centre but like I said they do open midnight for other games.

And they said the first wave of preorders is fully taken

My Game phoned me up to ask if I would attend a midnight launch because they needed to get numbers to see if it was worth their while. Just like they called to inform me they were running low on accessories and stock to give me time to get to the store and make additional pre-orders. So it seems different stores have different ways of doing things and communicating.

@FragRed

No communication at all here.

I went in and asked if I could preorders he switch in Jan before the reveal. They said yes and didn't even ask me which variant I want. I'm going neon so they better have some in stock haha

@gamermole I did the same thing, and no I was never asked either. I'm guessing they don't know what they're getting so it'll be what ever they have on the day you can choose from.

I only paid £20 for the deposit. Do you know if this come off the final console price?

So far I'm looking at £500 in total with only £380 saved up haha

GAME UK never make smart decisions. I've lost count of he amount of times I can buy a game brand new from them for cheaper than a preowned copy (but let's be honest amazon is cheaper - and with prime you get 2 hour delivery)

I'm more dumbfounded that the Switch Dock Set isn't being sold in the UK at all.

@gamermole I hope so! I'm not paying £20 to guarantee a pre-order plus £5 per accessory if I find I'm still paying full price on the day and it never came off. That would be the straw that broke the camels back with Game and I'd damn well let the world know about it too.

I have my Nephew's Switch on pre order at Game. Game phoned me to get me to come in the week before and pay 'to save time'. I asked how coming in twice would save me time and they explained how I obviousy would want to trade in all variety of things to pay for it- I told them I didn't, just want the console and would pay on the day (cheaper to buy the games elsewhere). Unsuprisingy for a Game employee, he was rather rude and abrupt about it.

They also told me I had no choice on the colour. Hoping I can get a Red and Blue from Smyths where I preordered from.

Isn't it obvious that Falco Lombardi is actually a parrot?

Game is the worst. i always preferred gamestation until game bought them out and destroyed them.

@gamermole GameStation were awesome and had a retro section which disappeared when Game bought them. The one in Birmingham had 2 floors, one for retro gaming but after the buy out, they scrapped the second floor and I never understood why.

I went to the game in a rather busy shopping centre and I didn't see a single piece of Nintendo Switch promotional material anywhere. I entered the shop and walked in to a sign that herds you towards Xbox or PlayStation.

I never drive faster than I can see. Besides, it's all in the reflexes.

@GrailUK that's common in all GAME stores. Like I said crap store

I tweeted my local store because I was curious to see if they had many left for launch and they eventually got back to me and told me they were sold out. However their Twitter feed is empty of any Switch promo, instead they're occasionally retweeting the shopping centre's adverts for it...

@gamermole

Gamestation was the best gaming store in the uk imo. Staff were truly into gaming and they always price match anything. Unlike game and their ridiculous xbox obsession and lack of basic gaming knowledge
