Edit: found a great breakdown video that explains all the differences.

Seems like the 3D All-Stars version is plenty good, but the control updates alone for Galaxy 1+2 are significant enough to warrant the purchase, I think. The texture upgrades are nice too, though in my opinion not critical.

Hello there, I have Super Mario 3D All-Stars, but I haven't dug into Galaxy yet. I did play it on Wii originally, so it won't be a new experience for me anyway. But I'm wondering how the 3D All-Stars version compares to the new 1 + 2 remaster. Has anyone played both versions by chance?

They're pretty similar. But Mario Galaxy 1/2 have updates to allow 4k 60fps on Switch 2, as well as new storybook content, and soundtrack available from the menu. There's also mouse controls for P2, to shoot star bits.

Aside from that they're the same, basically.

Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)
He was pierced for our transgressions

Just finished Galaxy 2 for the first time ever!

I did the same for Galaxy 1 back when the original 3D All Stars was released.

As someone who didn't own a Wii and didn't play these games at the time, I'm really glad these collections gave me the chance to do so. There's just something so cozy about a good Mario game. I'm an 80s kid, so I don't think I'd put these above the 2D Marios or even 64, but these were awesome games.

In terms of which one I liked more... I think I'd have to go Galaxy 2. I think the levels are a little more compact, but I liked that because I felt like the focus and creativity in each level was a bit tighter because of it.

I'm actually not a fan of Yoshi, though. I never really enjoyed the parts where he was necessary, but I can admit it helps to shake up the gameplay.
