I grabbed a copy of this game while it was on deep discount purely because of the studio who developed it, Cellar Door Games. Their claim to fame is the Rogue Legacy series. The game is an action, rpg, rogue-lite with local and online co-op for up to four players.

These are all good things, but what surprised me the most is how much the game gave me General Chaos vibes. A squad action game from the Genesis/Mega Drive. Only Full Metal Furies has much sharper, arcade-like gameplay. And in an interesting design choice, the whole cast are women.

Girl Powah!

The game's cool.

I read it as Full Metal Furries...

Yeah it's banging. I didn't expect to be seeing new life breathed into the brawler genre in 2020 but here it is.

I honestly don't get why people have such reverence for Rogue Legacy though; I found it pretty dull. Furies is a much better game to my mind.

Ha there was an ad picturing Guy Fieri right under this post and i was wondering what the heck kind of game with a title like that would feature him! Too early to be reading the boards, I guess. The real game is much more appealing, will now go ask my wife if she’s interested playing this one with me

An arena game where you pilot an assortment of anthropomorphic styled Mechs with the goal being to turn your opponents into roadkill.

Alright, I finally made it past the second gate boss.

Hooray for progress.

Up to act five now. I must admit that the difficulty curve for this game in finely tuned. Just enough progression to where each subsequent mission I take on makes me feel as though I'm barely scrapping by. It's a shame the game doesn't have voice over to take the presentation to the next level, but then not every game can be Hades.

I'm now past Coeus Mark II. Great boss fight. Attack, move, switch, attack, move, switch. Almost like a rhythm game but...not. The problem is the new werewolf / wolverine mob the game introduced, they are ceaseless. The difficulty just took a massive jump because I'm not sure how to properly handle this mob; I feel the ranged character classes have almost no chance against them.

I dunno...its kind of soured my opinion of the game a bit.

Heroes of Hammerwatch has its hooks deep in me now, so I'm not sure when I'll get back to this.
