New Final Fantasy VII update just patched the music bug and addressed cut scene issues.

In FFX does equipment effect your stats? I noticed that when browsing equipment in a shop, that while some have abilities that affect your stats (such as Defense or HP +5%), I didn't see whether or not they generally raise your stats in comparison to what you currently have equipped (for example, a sword might have the "seeker" ability, but there's no way to check how it effects your strength stat compared to your current sword).

@RR529 no it's the equipped stats like the one you said that effect your attack and so on, at some point you do get the ability to customize you weapons by adding new stats and abilities using items
EDIT basically if you 2 weapons and one has Preemptive and another had sensor the attack rating is the same, but if it had Strength +10% then it adds an extra 10% to you base stats
your Strength and other stats are increased by the Sphere Grid

@FullbringIchigo, thanks! It's been so long since I last played it that I honestly couldn't remember (since in most JRPGs, both leveling & equipment affect your stats). That actually makes things a bit easier to manage then, as I won't be obsessed with making sure my crew is outfitted with the best gear every time I enter a new town (and end up broke, lol).
Just completed my second aeon trial (I remember finding hidden treasures in the trials using destruction spheres when I played it ages ago, but it's way more obtuse than I remember it being, and haven't been able to find any yet).

Just got smashed by this Fire Bomb boss in the Forest of Salikawood. His minions kept hitting me with oil status and KO-ing my entire squad, and every time I get his life down 50% he used “renew” to fill his life bar again.
So after the game over screen I collected myself and adjusted my Gambits, went in there and whittled his life down to 50% then unleashed a well timed quickening chain, with 8 in a row, which was enough to take his life bar down to zero.
A hard-fought victory. Feels good mane

@RR529
Your stats (Strength, Defense, Magic, Magic Defense, Speed, Luck, Evasion, Accuracy, HP, MP, Abilities) will be increased from Sphere Grid, so if you fill ALL the nodes and add the empty nodes with right spheres, you can get ALL 255 stats.
You can do it also to your Aeons by give them certain items with specific quantity to improve their Stats or teach them with new abilities (Except Yojimbo and Magus Sisters due to their actions cannot be controlled directly by you so just upgrade their stats only).
With Break Damage Limit from your weapon, you can do easy 99,999 damage and with Break HP / MP Limit from your Shield, you can get MAX HP until 99,999 & MAX MP until 9,999. Very recommended stats before you defeat Optional Boss like Penance / Nemesis, but if you feel Lucky enough, you can wait until Yojimbo uses his Zanmato to defeat ALL enemies including Bosses.... If your Yojimbo have close relationship with Yuna. 😛
@JaxonH Nothing feels better than taking down a boss with almost minimal interaction because you've so well-tuned your set of gambits. Oil status sucks, though. I think I'm going to make sure I keep enough handkerchiefs on me at all times.
Quickening chains are very satisfying. Especially if you set up a powerful Concurrence.
Aw, Stupid Blitzball. 🙄
My team was lost and i didn't care win or lost, as long i can continue the storyline. 😒
Now, i get some company here, the Sahagins.
@Ralizah
Lol ya, I used to think Oil was a joke. Hoo boy, the hardest lessons are learned through experience

@RR529 just remember if you don't use all the destruction spheres in the temples you can't get Anima and you only get ONE chance to use it in the Bevelle temple (and to be honest i can't even remember if i did that or not on my PS4 playthrough, it's been ages since i did that bit)
not to mention some are blocked by Dark Aeons once you get the Airship so it's best to do it when your first there and if you can't remember how just look it up online

@King-X remember the sword of the kings, a very important plot weapon you can't sell and there is only one in the game
well i have 6 because i kept stealing it off belias during the trial mode and now i can't get rid of them

@King-X
What is this Karkarta blade in Trial Level 3? Isn’t level 3 trial a little low for getting a great weapon? Do tell more, because the last time I tried the trials I didn’t make it much past 20

@RR529 i always win it, just make sure you learned the Jecht Shot on the boat then during the half time break put it on Tidus, grab the ball and head right towards the goal, once you get stopped by the defenders use the jecht shot to knock them out and your attack should be more than enough to get past the goalie after that just keep passing between your defenders until Tidus leaves and then just keep passing the ball about and if you get the opportunity to attack with Wakka do it
as long as you waste time passing the ball after you score you'll win

@FullbringIchigo, yeah, I didn't get the Jecht Shot either. I thought I had nailed all the prompts, but failed, so again assumed it was something you failed at no matter what for story purposes and didn't think twice about it.
Anyhow, I'm now at that rest stop on the Djose Highroad. It loved throwing those big horned things at me that deal a ton of damage when they gore you, so I was running low on Yuna's MP (for healing) by the time I got there, and even had to use more Phoenix Downs than I'd have liked (I know one of Wakka's specials blinds them, and one of Auron's can somewhat cut their attack power, but they have jack all for MP so that only lasted me a few encounters).

@RR529 wanna know an easy was to get the Jecht Shot, simply rotate the analogue stick really fast and mash the enter button (i don't have it on Switch but i'm assuming it's "B"), you don't actually have to time it and it is REALLY handy for early Blitzball matches (which you have to do to get Wakka's Overdrives)
but you can go back and get it later in the game if you want by using the ferry again once you got the airship

Tonight in X I beat that boss that was eating the Chocobos (failed the first time, so I had to reload a save and try it again), and then after working my way to the next save point I spent the rest of my session grinding because I think I have an annoying boss fight coming up if memory serves me right.

So I keep hearing that it's possible to go back to previous areas in FFX. How far through the game does that happen? I don't want to spoil anything, but I've played enough to have unlocked the "aga" spells and am about to fight Mr. "no one doubted he was a bad guy" for the second time but haven't had the ability to travel back to a previous area even once that I could find.
Also are there side quests in this game? Doesn't really seem like it.
