Ittle Dew 2 - your 2D Zelda game.
Darksiders - my favorite 3D Zelda clone.
Shovel Knight - your 2D Mario game.
Journey to the Savage Planet - your 3D Metroid game.
Steamworld Dig 2 - your 2D Metroid game.
Redout - my favorite F-Zero clone (although Fast RMX is quite good too).
Everspace - if Star Fox were a free-roaming roguelike; bit of a stretch though.
@rockodoodle I didn't think of that I had blocked it out, and now I've just had a flashback to the ending of Will of the Wisps - I'm not crying, I've just got sand in my eyes!
Nice to see another Team Sonic Racing fan! Honestly one of my favourite Switch games. Playing through the story mode was so much fun and loved how the team mechanics worked and the banter between the different characters when racing.

And don’t forget the original Yooka-Laylee too. So underrated. But then again, I loved the Rare 3D platformers of the late 90s. Actually prefer them to the Mario 3D games.
Shin Megami Tensei has basically been my go to for monster catching/summoning since I was introduced to it via Persona 3 Portable, and its pretty much stuck since I've long fallen out with Pokemon

Alundra - underrated gem for the PS1 that was once marketed as the "Zelda killer". Plays a lot like the 2D Zelda's, but had a bigger focus on narrative.
Jade Cocoon - another gem for the PS1, this time its Pokemon style JRPG where you catch monsters, battle alongside them, and you can infinitely breed different combinations of them. The art style was done by Studio Ghibli, and the story is a bit more mature.
Guardian's Crusade - another gem for the PS1(lol). This is a beginner friendly JRPG meant to be sort of a entry point for newbies, but its still a pretty solid game in spite of that. It reminds me a lot of the Mario RPGs by having one hero with various quirky sidekicks who support him in battle, and the cartoony art style gives similar lighthearted vibes.
Crash Team Racing - a solid alternative to Mario Kart.
Umihara Kawase Fresh! - A neat platformer with a grappling mechanic that challenges your skills. It even gave me the 2019 Nintendo platformer I wanted, something that Yoshi's Crafted World failed to do for me (and this is a huge Yoshi fan talking here).
Gensou SkyDrift - A cheap Mario Kart clone that does its job well and has the dual-kart mechanic from Nintendo's own Double Dash. And funnily enough, this game was actually developed by former Mario Kart developers...
Bug Fables - A "Paper Mario" game that manages to stomp all over The Origami King in many ways.
Saturday Morning RPG - Another "Paper Mario" game that manages to stomp all over The Origami King in many ways.
Puyo Puyo Tetris (1 and 2) - A combination of Puyo Puyo (which has been handled by Kirby outside of Japan as Avalanche/Ghost Trap) and Tetris, culminating into a massive party game with plenty of content that can be loads of fun. I even liked these games much more than Tetris 99.
There is a demo, which is decent. Don't let the opening cutscene underwhelm you. Play the full demo. But I think the game worlds/levels get more impressive, charming after that. This is one of the few games I actually played to the end. And, the bonus levels after beating the game are very cool, too.
(Obviously there is also Crash Bandicoot & Spyro for 3d platformers, but New Super Lucky's Tale's levels & mechanics are more similar to mario.)
