I kinda like games where you don't have to think much.... stress free instead of causing stress....Yet Another Zombie Defense, Black Hole, Zombie Driver, Fx Pinball and Fallout Shelter
I appreciate jrpgs that have intelligent auto-combat. DQ XI, Tales of Vesperia, FF XII, etc. Grind out gear, currency, skills, (whatever) while consuming something else. Movies, anime, tv series, etc. Then return my attention to the game as the story progresses.

U are the 2nd person to recommend Tales to me..... I need to get that eventually.
My go-to mindless fun is shmups, specifically R-Type Dimensions and Steredenn. I'm kind of amazed how much time I've sunk into Steredenn. It's just get in the zone and shoot at anything that moves. I've yet to get past the fourth boss, but I still go back to it almost every day to unwind.

I love mindless games because I usually game while I'm on an exercise bike, so you need to play things that require fairly low concentration (it's hard to really concentrate and pedal at the same time, your brain just says no), and also things that are quite constant in how they're paced.
The best Nintendo games for this are Mario Kart, Hyrule Warriors, Mario 3D World.
1. Animal Crossing New Leaf (3DS)
2. Tomodachi Life (3DS)
3. Miitopia (3DS)
4. Disney Magical World 2 (3DS)
5. Yonder the Cloud Catcher Chronicles (PS4/Switch)
I lost my data in Tomodachi life, but that was cool. I think they could done more with it. I loved Street Pass games. So upset they stopped supporting it. I need to get back into Miitopia. That turned out to be better than I thought..
Some people consider beat-em-up games/belt scrollers to be mindless. I don't and I love the style of game. But they don't require a ton of precision to enjoy. If I'm feeling good, I can focus really hard and try to finish the game with as few credits as possible. If I'm not feeling so great, I can do what I can without worrying about it, and credit feed my way through the game. There are plenty of examples, but stuff like Battle Circuit, Armored Warriors, and Captain Commando from the Capcom beat-em-up collection are good examples that have been on my mind lately.
