Topic: Dock suddenly unresponsive

I've never had a single problem with the dock, then yesterday suddenly it is dead. It doesn't charge the Switch (and the green light doesn't come on). The power adapter is fine, and the outlet doesn't matter. I've tried the suggestions about powercycling the Switch (and the TV, etc), unplugging and replugging the cables in various orders, etc. Nothing works.

It's never been moved, handled, dropped, anything... just seems weird for it to completely die. And docks are sold out everywhere here. Any other fixes to try?

@hendmi Virtually every time someone's had an issue with the dock not working/displaying on tv, resetting the ac adapter has solved the issue.

In general, if nintendo support troubleshooting can't solve an issue, it usually means there's hardware failure. I think you're in that territory. (assuming your outlet works, and a fuse hasn't been tripped).

edit: Since power surges happen at my place every once in a while, I always plug my consoles & tv into a surge protector power pad. I don't know if that would have prevented your issue, but it's what I do.

@WoomyNNYes Yeah the power supply is fine... can plug it directly into the Switch to charge, so I think it's jus the Dock is fried. Was through a surge protector, so I've go not explanation. I'm not in the US, and the Nintendo store in my country is sold out of docks. (They have the OLED one, but unclear if it's compatible.) Amazon has 3rd party docks but they have pretty mixed reviews. Anyway, thanks!

@hendmi YES, non-OLED Switches are compaitble with the OLED dock. I'm assuming you know the OLED dock has the built-in LAN port, for a wired connection. As long as your Switch OS update is current, you're good.

Are all Nintendo Switch systems compatible with the dock with LAN port?

Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch – OLED Model systems that are updated to system version 11.0.0 or later are compatible with the dock with LAN port.

nintendolife article also confirms it
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2021/12/nintendos-switch-ol...

Back when the Nintendo Switch OLED model was announced, Nintendo revealed the dock would be made available for purchase as a standalone item.

It's compatible with the standard Nintendo Switch, but it does not include an HDMI cable, AC adapter or packaging.

So when you say adapter is fine did you plug that into the Switch itself to see what happens? I don't see that mention here. Also did you inspect the plug on the DOCK sometimes people damage the plug when Docking/UnDocking. This can happen as well-so unless you have a trusted friend to try their dock when you Dock your Switch to see what happens. I've heard people forced their Switch into the Dock damaging the connector. It's not a sturdy or solid piece but I docked/undocked without issue and sometimes have to do it more careful then other times. Also the HDMI and Adapter are those NIN or 3rd party? Alot of other info is missing to know what is happening here.
