Hi All
My sons dock is having issues. The green light comes on, it charges the switch and it even switches the TV onto the correct HDMI source and has Nintendo Switch as the input (Sony TV) but no signal. I've tried different TVs and cables but the same result.
Can somebody please help - I've tried everything I can think of
@trentbj Nintendo support covers an issue for when the Switch isn't displaying on tv. And they recommend resetting the AC adapter (it's the power cord for the dock). I think I've seen two other posts here with your similar issue, and I believe doing this solved it. Give it a try.
If you ever have issues with the Swtich, Nintendo's support site is actually a good resource to search for directions & troubleshooting issues. (If you know about Nintendo's support site, you can disregard )
Update
I've checked using another dock. The unit doesn't work on either dock but both docks work. Therefore there is an issue with the Switch but it charges fine in the dock though. What else could be wrong?
Thanks for your help
Did you try different HDMI cable other then the NIN cable that came with it. Sounds like HDMI cable connection issue or your TV has issue with the NIN connection.
I've tried everything. Put my switch in another dock doesn't work. My mate out his switch in my dock and they both work. So the issue is my switch itself. It charges which is funny
@trentbj Charging and Output are two different hardware functions. Did you contact NIN support before posting here? Warranty you need to contact NIN support - Out of Warranty you will have to resolve it with NIN support.
@trentbj So, did you go through the steps in the page I linked above? Reset the ad adapter (unpluging everything). (i pasted the same link again, here.) I ask because, at the bottom of that page, there is a question "is there an image on the LCD screen" (handheld mode). If handheld mode works, that support page expands with more steps to go through - like adjusting the console resolution settings.
Also, troubleshooting should be done with the official Nintendo dock, not a third party dock. Third party docks can have issues after Switch updates.
If you've done all that, you can disregard. Unfortunately, If you've gone through all the troubleshooting steps, and the Switch still doesn't display on tv, this could indicate a hardware failure.
@SwitchForce Seems like I will have to send it in and pay for it. Pretty disappointing as my son saved fro months to buy it and takers great care of it. It's not as if he paid $5 for it
@trentbj Well I will say this not saying it was user caused but these situation are rare and I used my first one Docked/UnDocked many times and had no issue with Video output and even my nephew had his one on it.
@trentbj Even if you are out of warranty, Nintendo MIGHT still help you with a Switch that young. I'd call them, if possible, and explain your scenario. See what they say.
