Is it programmed in blood and bound in human flesh? If so I think I'll pass.
It's made in China, so I'm pretty sure it's made from 100% Giant Panda, and packaged in the hide of a Silverback Gorilla. Not exactly the most economical of sources, but at least it'll pass most international Environmental standards.
But does it raise the dead and turn my friends into deadites?
No, but just in case, it is written off in the EULA, under the "Apocrypha and Misc. Damnable Transmogrifications" section.
I won't be getting the NX until Fire Emblem NX is released, complete with pack-in blow-up doll attachment that will connect to the NX-mote for more immersive skinship interactions than ever before.
And the NX-mote MUST include smell-o-vision functionality. I want to savour the aroma of roasted Koopas as I incinerate them with my fireballs... and to smell the breath of my Fire Emblem skinship partner as they lean in to plant one on me. I hope they've brushed, and if not, I should hope that the NX-mote is waterproof.
"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"
3) Lack of balance between exploration-based games (BotW, Xenoblade, Metroid) and gameplay-focused ones (i.e. platformers or the Kart/Smash/Party triad)
4) No old franchise revival (F-Zero, Golden Sun or Advance Wars would be my top choices)
5) No third party support that appeals to my tastes.
If this happens I'd only get one if it can also run the portable's games, or if the NX itself has a portable component.
Pretty much the only thing that would stop me from wanting one was if it required VR. Luckily, it sounds like the NX won't be jumping into that bandwagon. (Well, not yet anyway.)
Providing I can afford it I'll definitely be picking one up. Only lack of funds would stop me. The only question would be how long I'd have to wait before I could pick one up at a cost-effective price. But then, having said that, I still have Wii, oxbox and PS2 games on my shelf that I'm yet to play.

If Nintendo uses the "specs aren't important" to release another Wii U type system then I am out. Don't care about what the games are at launch, they can't screw up with the power again.

I don't think there's anything that would stop me from buying an NX.
Well, there is one thing- if Nintendo wasn't going to actually make games for it. Buuuut, that's not gonna happen so, ya. It's pretty much a day one guaranteed.
The absolute worst case scenario is it gets Wii U level support. And that's more than enough to warrant a day one purchase for me. Do I hope for more? Sure. But would I actually skip an entire console generation to save a measly $300 simply because it's missing Metroid or F-Zero? Hell no.
If you look for a reason to not buy a console, you'll find exactly that. All I need is one reason TO buy a console. And that one reason is- games that l know I'll love, and can't play without said hardware. Pikmin 4- that right there is enough to justify a purchase. Anythig beyond that, is just icing on the cake.

This I can definitely agree with, for the most part. If anything, I find this thread's logic quite backwards...we know nothing about this console, and yet people are already bracing themselves for the worst. I get the whole "hope for the best, prepare for the worst" methodology, but in this case the "worst" would be disappointment, and the easiest way to avoid that is keeping yourself neutral and open-minded. Heck, even most of what I said before was in jest...for the most part. I still want that F-Zero game, Nintendo. Especially now that Wipeout's dead, someone needs to step up and satisfy my lust for hover racing, and an indie game like FAST Racing Neo sure as hell can't do it alone. But that just means that Ninty's got plenty of opportunities to impress me when they finally feel like talking about the damn thing. There's no sense placing bets and playing favorites when the pageant's contestants haven't even left the wombs...ya creepers...
...oh yeah, @JaxonH - what kind of job do you have where $300 counts as "measley"? Gets out notebook
@CanisWolfred
Ha- I'm just a CMM programmer/quality engineer-in-training. It's a good job, don't get me wrong- I'm not complaining. But it's middle class as they come, right? I think I could still drop $300 for a console every few years working at a GameStop part time. How much more then by working a decent job full time
$300 is like one Sunday's double time pay. One single day's work, only needed once every 5 years or so (granted, at the rate of double time for working a Sunday but still).
It just seems so insignificant. Boggles my mind anyone would actually skip a full Nintendo generation (and in consequence, miss out on an entire library of top-shelf gems, and I don't care what happens with NX it is a mother freaking guarantee it will have a whole spread of amazing exclusives- even if it gets zero 3rd party support) all over a days worth of pay. Even if you make minimum wage, it's one week's pay. One week every 5 years.
There's just no way I could watch a game like Pikmin 4 release, and know how great it is, and see all these other gamers playing it and having fun, and just sit in my corner with no NX and no Pikmin 4, all because I'm too cheap to drop $300 once in 5 years, ratiobalizing it with some insignificant excuse. Screw that.
Nothing in this world is gonna stop me from buying an NX. Believe that. I don't care what everyone else does, but I'll be playing me some Zelda and Pikmin come March, and everything else the NX has to offer until 2020 and beyond.

C...M...M..Programmer...Okay, thanks. I only asked because I kind of quit my job last week - I'm not cut out for retail, or physical labor, so I need ideas for a new career direction...
I'm also not doing factory-style work again, that was nightmare last time, and that's the only job-lead the social worker I'm dealing with has right now. At least now I've got nothing but time to look around and see what's out there...
...and maybe play a few games here and there, but ironically, whenever I'm between jobs, I feel too guilty to want to do anything fun...
I would only skip completely if VR was mandatory. Otherwise, I'll pick it up at some point - maybe not day one, since I still have a giant backlog with my Wii U and 3DS. Maybe a year or so after launch, or when they announce Bayonetta 3. Whatever comes first.

Speaking for myself, the problem is not money, it's the amount of time I can invest in playing videogames nowadays. Supporting every console is not an option, so Nintendo needs to stay competitive with the rest of the market if they want to keep me as a consumer.
Obviously, Nintendo consoles always end up getting great games on their catalogs. The only problem is, their consoles are not the only ones getting great games. All the more so when you factor in the lack of some key franchises (i.e. the Metroid and F-Zero examples you mentioned) that are system-sellers to a portion of their fanbase.
I'm as much of a Pikmin, Mario or Zelda fan as a Deus Ex, Fallout, Metal Gear, Souls or Doom fan. If I don't have enough time on my hands to support a large number of platforms, I'm keeping the one that gets me more bang for my buck, both in quantity and arguably in quality, simple as that. I guess situations such as mine are what cause these threads, when people are forced to choose between platforms.
None. Many things would piss me off, but I couldn't bear not having access to the new Mario, the new Zelda, the new Mario Kart etc.
Here are things that would piss me off:
Raw power below PS4 (not Neo)
Less than 500GB storage
No support for Wii Remote/Nunchuk (to me the definite way to play Zelda, Metroid)
No option to transfer eShop purchases (get your goddamn account system right!!)
Still having a baby-sized VC without Pokemon Stadium, Smash, Mario Kart DD
No Mario and Mario Kart game at launch (what is a Nintendo console launch without Mario?)
A price above $399
Check out my big NX concept on http://ntdojoe.wordpress.com.
Concept includes Nintendo Portable, Nintendo Ultimate, NintendOS, Miitopia, RePlay, N Cam and more.
Less than 128GB of storage (Knowing Nintendo's efficiency, they'll almost certainly go with SSD)
Lousy online services
If it costs more than £200.
1) They will almost certainly not go with SSD, as its still a lot more expensive than a HDD, especially with higher capacities (btw, below 500GB would be a buzz killer for me)
2) $200? You won't buy NX then. They have to make it good and also profitable, no way it'll be below $299.

I'm going to buy it for Zelda and I'm just going to be committing to whatever the software lineup looks like beyond that, for better or worse.
I will be expecting the worst if:
-It has a GPU below 4Tflops
-If it has only 8GB
-If it actually has less than 8GB
-No microphone
-No online games at launch
-No chat options
-No fps from Retro
@BlueSkies Why does it matter who makes the games though? Retro has no experience with FPSs. I don't get why people want them to do things they may not be even comfortable with. It's a bit of a weird and specific requirement.
